Relación entre la estomatitis aftosa recurrente y el nivel de estrés agudo en pacientes de un centro dental privado, Lima 2025

Abstract

El objetivo de la presente investigación fue determinar la relación entre la estomatitis aftosa recurrente y el nivel de estrés agudo en pacientes de un centro dental privado de Lima durante el año 2025. El estudio se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño no experimental, correlacional y de corte transversal con una población y muestra constituida por 120 pacientes, seleccionados mediante muestreo no probabilístico censal. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó un cuestionario estructurado de autorreporte para identificar la presencia de estomatitis aftosa recurrente y una versión adaptada de la Escala de Estrés Percibido para medir el nivel de estrés agudo. Los resultados evidenciaron una relación estadísticamente significativa entre el nivel de estrés agudo y la presencia de estomatitis aftosa recurrente (p = 0,035), también se encontró relación significativa entre el nivel de estrés agudo y la frecuencia de estomatitis aftosa recurrente en función del tipo de jornada laboral (p = 0,035) y de las exigencias educativas (p = 0,028), sin embargo, no se evidenció relación estadísticamente significativa al considerar la carga familiar como covariable (p = 0,071). Se concluye que existe una relación significativa entre el nivel de estrés agudo y la estomatitis aftosa recurrente, confirmando la asociación entre factores psicoemocionales y la presencia de esta afección bucal en la población estudiada al considerar determinadas condiciones laborales y educativas, mas no la carga familiar, en la población estudiada.

The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between recurrent aphthous stomatitis and the level of acute stress in patients at a private dental clinic in Lima during 2025. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional design. The population and sample consisted of 120 patients, selected through non-probability census sampling. Data was collected using a structured self-report questionnaire to identify the presence of recurrent aphthous stomatitis and an adapted version of the Perceived Stress Scale to measure the level of acute stress. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between the level of acute stress and the presence of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (p = 0.035). A significant relationship was also found between the level of acute stress and the frequency of recurrent aphthous stomatitis based on the type of work schedule (p = 0.035) and educational demands (p = 0.028). However, no statistically significant relationship was found when considering family responsibilities as a covariate (p = 0.071). It is concluded that there is a significant relationship between the level of acute stress and recurrent aphthous stomatitis, confirming the association between psycho-emotional factors and the presence of this oral condition in the studied population when considering certain work and educational conditions, but not family responsibilities.
