Anomalías dentarias de número y su ubicación según maxilar en radiografías panorámicas de pacientes pediátricos durante los años del 2013 al 2024, en un hospital de Lima

Abstract

El estudio tuvo como objetivo general evaluar la frecuencia de anomalías dentarias de número en radiografías panorámicas de pacientes pediátricos atendidos en el Hospital Militar de Lima entre los años 2013 y 2024. Para alcanzar este propósito, se aplicó el método del enfoque hipotético-deductivo y se adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel básico, con un diseño no experimental, retrospectivo, descriptivo y transversal. La población estuvo conformada por 500 radiografías panorámicas del área de Odontopediatría del Hospital Militar de Lima, que cumplieron criterios de inclusión y exclusión previamente definidos. La muestra coincidió con la población total, ya que se aplicó un muestreo censal no probabilístico, lo que aseguró la representatividad del estudio. Los resultados mostraron que el 14,6 % de los pacientes presentó anomalías dentarias de número, siendo la hipodoncia la más frecuente. En conclusión, el trabajo demostró que estas alteraciones constituyen un hallazgo relevante en la población infantil, resaltando la importancia del diagnóstico radiográfico oportuno.

The study had the general objective of evaluating the frequency of dental number anomalies in panoramic radiographs of pediatric patients treated at the Military Hospital of Lima between 2013 and 2024. To achieve this purpose, the research followed the hypothetical–deductive method and adopted a quantitative approach, at a basic level, with a non-experimental, retrospective, descriptive, and cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 500 panoramic radiographs from the Pediatric Dentistry Department of the Military Hospital of Lima, which met previously defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample coincided with the entire population, since a non probabilistic census sampling was applied, ensuring representativeness. The results showed that 14.6% of the patients presented dental number anomalies, with hypodontia being the most frequent. In conclusion, the study demonstrated that these alterations constitute a relevant finding in the pediatric population, highlighting the importance of timely radiographic diagnosis.
