Knowledge about parenteral nutrition administration and nursing practice in the neonatal intensive care service of a hospital in Lima, 2023

The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice on parenteral nutrition administration of the nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit of a hospital in Lima, in the year 2023. This is a non-experimental, quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study. The population and sample will be made up of 42 nursing professionals from the neonatal ICU service of the hospital. The data will be collected by means of two instruments: the first is a 10-item scale of dichotomous questions to measure the level of knowledge; and the second consists of 19 items, on a Likert scale, to measure the practice variable. Both instruments were validated by expert judgment (Aiken's V = 0.93 and 0.96, respectively), and Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was used to determine their reliability (0.83 and 0.79, respectively). The data collected will be processed with the SPSS version 25 statistical program for the statistical analysis of correlation between the two variables using Spearman's statistic. The results will be discussed in relation to the theoretical framework and conclusions will be drawn.
Resumen
La finalidad principal del presente estudio es determinar qué relación existe entre el nivel de conocimiento y la práctica sobre la administración de nutrición parenteral de la enfermera de la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales de un hospital de Lima, el año 2023. Es un estudio no-experimental, de enfoque cuantitativo, de corte transversal, alcance descriptivo y correlacional. La población y muestra estará constituida por 42 profesionales de enfermería del servicio de UCI neonatal de dicho hospital. Los datos serán recopilados mediante dos instrumentos: el primero es una escala de 10 ítems que son preguntas dicotómicas para la medición del nivel de conocimiento; y el segundo consta de 19 ítems, en escala Likert, para la medición de la variable práctica. Ambos instrumentos fueron validados por juicio de expertos (V de Aiken = 0.93 y 0.96, respectivamente), y para determinar su confiabilidad se utilizó el coeficiente de Alfa de Cronbach (0.83 y 0.79, respectivamente). Los datos recopilados serán procesados con el programa estadístico SPSS versión 25 para el análisis estadístico de correlación entre las dos variables usando el estadístico de Spearman. Los resultados serán discutidos en relación al marco teórico y se establecerán conclusiones
