Capacidad funcional y autoestima de los adultos mayores de la unidad de larga estancia del Hospital Militar Geriátrico, 2025

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar la relación existente entre la Capacidad Funcional y el Autoestima de los adultos mayores del Hospital Militar Geriátrico 2025. Metodología: estudio de tipo aplicada, cuantitativo, correlacional y corte transversal. Población y la muestra estará compuesta por 85 adultos mayores residentes de la Unidad de Larga Estancia. La técnica empleada para la recolección de datos será la encuesta. Para evaluar la variable “Capacidad Funcional” se utilizará el Índice de Barthel, mientras que la variable “Autoestima” será medida mediante el Cuestionario de Coopersmith. El procesamiento estadístico iniciará con la organización y categorización de la información de una hoja de cálculo en Excel, para luego ser transferida al software SPSS versión 31. En este programa se verificará la distribución normal de las variables a través de la prueba de normalidad de Kolmogórov – Smirnov, considerando como referencia un valor de significancia de p <0.05. Según los resultados, se aplicará la correlación de Spearman y, adicionalmente, se utilizará la prueba de Chi cuadrado para contrastar hipótesis, así como tablas cruzadas para analizar las características sociodemográficas de los participantes.

Objective: To determine the relationship between functional capacity and self-esteem in older adults at the 2025 Military Geriatric Hospital. Methodology: This is an applied, quantitative, correlational, and cross-sectional study. The population and sample will consist of 85 older adults residing in the Long-Term Care Unit. Data will be collected through a survey. The Barthel Index will be used to assess functional capacity, while the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory will be used to measure self-esteem. Statistical processing will begin with the organization and categorization of the data in an Excel spreadsheet, which will then be transferred to SPSS version 31. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test will be used to verify the normal distribution of the variables, considering a significance level of p < 0.05. Based on the results, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient will be applied, and the chi-square test will be used to test hypotheses, along with cross tabulations to analyze the participants' sociodemographic characteristics.
