Nivel de conocimiento y prácticas preventivas sobre infecciones respiratorias agudas en madres de niños menores de 5 años, Hospital Callao - 2025

Abstract

La investigación tuvo por objetivo general determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y prácticas preventivas sobre infecciones respiratorias agudas en madres de niños menores de 5 años, Hospital Callao - 2025. El método fue de enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental y correlacional, se consideró una muestra de 80 madres de niños menores de 5 años, para medir el nivel de conocimiento sobre infecciones respiratorias agudas usó un cuestionario elaborado por Huaman et al (2023) y para medir las prácticas preventivas sobre infecciones respiratorias agudas se usó el cuestionario elaborado por Huaman et al. (2023), ambos instrumentos presentan validez por juicio de expertos y para la fiabilidad se usó la prueba K de Richardson para conocimiento sobre infecciones respiratorias agudas se tuvo un valor de 0.736 y en prácticas preventivas sobre infecciones respiratorias agudas se obtuvo un valor de 0.739. El resultado descriptivo para conocimiento sobre las infecciones respiratorias agudas donde un 66,3% presentó un nivel alto, un 23,8% en medio y solamente un 10,0% en bajo, mientras en prácticas preventivas sobre las infecciones respiratorias agudas un 87,5% presentó un nivel adecuado y solamente un 12,5% en inadecuado. Además, se halló un coeficiente de correlación rho de Spearman de 0.919 con una significancia bilateral de 0.000. Se concluyó una correlación positiva muy fuerte entre nivel de conocimiento y prácticas preventivas sobre las infecciones respiratorias agudas. Al tener una correlación positiva, cuando se mejore el nivel de conocimiento sobre las infecciones respiratorias agudas, se podrá mejorar las prácticas preventivas sobre las infecciones respiratorias agudas.

The general objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive practices regarding acute respiratory infections in mothers of children under 5 years of age, Callao Hospital – 2025. The method was quantitative, non experimental, and correlational. A sample of 80 mothers of children under 5 years of age was considered. To measure the level of knowledge about acute respiratory infections, a questionnaire developed by Huaman et al. (2023) was used, and to measure preventive practices regarding acute respiratory infections, the same questionnaire developed by Huaman et al. (2023) was used. Both instruments presented validity by expert judgment, and for reliability, the Richardson K test was used. For knowledge about acute respiratory infections, a value of 0.736 was obtained, and for preventive practices regarding acute respiratory infections, a value of 0.739 was obtained. The descriptive results for knowledge about acute respiratory infections showed that 66.3% of participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge, 23.8% a medium level, and only 10.0% a low level. Regarding preventive practices for acute respiratory infections, 87.5% demonstrated an adequate level, and only 12.5% an inadequate level. Furthermore, a Spearman's rho correlation coefficient of 0.919 was found, with a two-tailed significance of 0.000. This indicates a very strong positive correlation between the level of knowledge and preventive practices regarding acute respiratory infections. Given this positive correlation, improvements in the level of knowledge about acute respiratory infections will likely lead to improvements in preventive practices related to acute respiratory infections.
