The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between maxillary sinus pneumatization and the thickness of the inferior mandibular border in partially edentulous patients attending a university dental center in 2025. The research had a quantitative approach and was classified as applied research, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and correlational scope. The population consisted of 120 panoramic radiographs of patients treated at the university dental clinic, from which a sample of 92 radiographs was selected using simple random probability sampling. The observation technique was used, and data were collected through a structured recording form that included the degree of maxillary sinus pneumatization according to Misch classification, the thickness of the inferior mandibular border measured in millimeters, and the patients’ demographic characteristics such as age and gender. The results showed that grade 3 pneumatization was the most frequent in both sides of the maxillary sinus (33.7% on the right side and 39.1% on the left side). The adult age group (36–60 years) represented the highest proportion of cases (60.9%). Additionally, mandibular thickness values were similar between males and females, although slightly higher values were observed in males. Spearman’s correlation test showed a weak and non-significant relationship between maxillary sinus pneumatization and inferior mandibular border thickness (p > 0.05). In conclusion, no statistically significant relationship was found between maxillary sinus pneumatization and mandibular border thickness, suggesting that both variables may behave as independent anatomical factors in partially edentulous patients.en_US
