| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between facial type and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in young adults attending the Brisusdent dental clinic, Lima, 2026. The research had a quantitative approach, basic type, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. The sample consisted of 92 young adults selected through simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out through direct clinical observation using a structured form; facial type was assessed using the facial morphological index, and temporomandibular disorders were evaluated using the Helkimo index. Descriptive statistics were applied using frequencies and percentages, while inferential analysis was performed using the Chi-square test and Cramer's V coefficient, with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that moderate (45.7%) and mild (42.4%) TMD were the most frequent, while normal and severe cases were less common. According to facial type, moderate dysfunction predominated across all facial biotypes. No statistically significant relationship was found between facial type and temporomandibular disorders (x²=5.90; p=0.659), with a weak association (Cramer's V=0.18). Likewise, no significant relationship was found according to age or sex (p>0.05). It is concluded that there is no significant relationship between facial type and temporomandibular disorders in young adults, suggesting that these conditions have a multifactorial origin. | en_US |
