Costos hospitalarios variables y grados de prematuridad en el Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal 2019 – 2023

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre los costos variables de la atención hospitalaria y el grado de prematuridad en el Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal durante un periodo de cinco años (2019 – 2023). Metodología: Se analizó la información de la Base de datos del Seguro Integral de Salud (SIS). El estudio incluyó 7,116 neonatos prematuros (entre las 24 a 36 semanas de edad gestacional), nacidos en el Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal en el periodo 2019 al 2023 e incluidos en la Base de datos del SIS. Se aplicó la Prueba de correlación de Spearman, para medir la fuerza de relación entre las variables de estudio. Resultados: El 3% de pacientes se encontró en el grupo Extremadamente prematuro (menor de 28 semanas), el 7.5%, en el grupo Muy prematuro (28 a 32 semanas) y el 89.5% al grupo de Prematuro moderado tardío. Entre los Costos hospitalarios variables y el grado de prematuridad existe un coeficiente de correlación negativo de magnitud media rs= -0.413, y un nivel de significancia p menor al valor de contraste (0.05). Conclusiones: Existe una relación inversa entre los costos hospitalarios variables y el grado de prematuridad en el Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal durante el periodo 2019 al 2023, analizada en sus tres dimensiones: medicamentos, procedimientos médicos e insumos médicos. Se evidenció una elevada mortalidad en los grupos de menor edad gestacional que probablemente distorsionan la fuerza de correlación entre ambas variables.

Objective: To determine the relationship between variable costs of hospital care and the degree of prematurity at the National Maternal Perinatal Institute over a five-year period (2019-2023). Methodology: Information from the Seguro Integral de Salud (SIS) Database was analyzed. The study included 7,116 premature neonates (between 24 and 36 weeks of gestational age), born at the National Maternal Perinatal Institute between 2019 and 2023 and included in the SIS Database. The Spearman correlation test was applied to measure the strength of the relationship between the study variables. Results: 3% of patients were in the Extremely Premature group (less than 28 weeks), 7.5% in the Very Premature group (28 to 32 weeks), and 89.5% in the Moderate-Late Premature group. Between variable hospital costs and the degree of prematurity there is a negative correlation coefficient of medium magnitude rs= -0.413, and a significance level p less than the contrast value (0.05). Conclusions: There is an inverse relationship between variable hospital costs and the degree of prematurity at the National Maternal Perinatal Institute during the period 2019 to 2023, analyzed in its three dimensions: medications, medical procedures and medical supplies. High mortality was evident in the lower gestational age groups, which probably distorts the strength of correlation between both variables.
