Conocimiento y actitud sobre las medidas preventivas de la tuberculosis de los alumnos de un colegio público de Lima, 2024

Abstract

Objetivo: La investigación buscó cuál es la relación entre el conocimiento y la actitud sobre las medidas preventivas de la tuberculosis en alumnos. Método: Se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, alcance correlacional, usando método hipotético-deductivo, diseño no experimental y corte transeccional. Se estudió una población de 92 alumnos del 5to año de secundaria, aplicando dos instrumentos: uno para evaluar conocimientos y otro para actitudes sobre prevención de la tuberculosis. Resultados: Los hallazgos mostraron que el 60,9% de los alumnos tenían bajo conocimiento sobre medidas preventivas de la tuberculosis, 32,6% medio y solo el 6,5% nivel de conocimiento alto; en cuanto a las actitudes, predominó la desfavorable con 76,1%, y la favorable alcanzó el 23,9%. Conclusiones: El análisis estadístico evidenció una correlación positiva significativa entre conocimiento y actitud sobre medidas preventivas de la tuberculosis (Rho=0,983; p=0,000), indicando que, a menor conocimiento, los alumnos muestran actitudes desfavorables hacia medidas preventivas de tuberculosis. También, se encontraron correlaciones significativas entre las dimensiones cocimiento sobre la enfermedad propiamente dicha y las actitudes (Rho=0,898), y conocimiento sobre la prevención y las actitudes (Rho=0,737), ambas con p=0,000.

Objective: The research sought to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitude about tuberculosis preventive measures in students. Method: It was developed under a quantitative approach, correlational scope, using a hypothetical-deductive method, non experimental design and cross-sectional cut. A population of 92 5th year high school students was studied, applying two instruments: one to assess knowledge and the other to assess attitudes on tuberculosis prevention. Results: The findings showed that 60,9% of the students had low knowledge about tuberculosis preventive measures, 32,6% medium and only 6,5% high level of knowledge; as for attitudes, the unfavorable one predominated with 76,1%, and the favorable one reached 23,9%. Conclusions: The statistical analysis evidenced a significant positive correlation between knowledge and attitude about tuberculosis preventive measures (Rho=0,983; p=0,000), indicating that, the lower the knowledge, the less students show unfavorable attitudes towards tuberculosis preventive measures. Also, significant correlations were found between the dimensions knowledge about the disease itself and attitudes (Rho=0,898), and knowledge about prevention and attitudes (Rho=0,737), both with p=0,000.
