Fuerza muscular y riesgo de caída en el adulto mayor que asiste a un hospital nacional, Chosica, 2024

Abstract

La fuerza muscular es un factor clave para la funcionalidad y la independencia de los adultos mayores. Con en el envejecimiento se produce una disminución de la masa del músculo esquelético, conocido como la sarcopenia y la dinapenia, una pérdida de fuerza no atribuida a enfermedades neuromusculares, son los dos principales factores importantes que limitan esta capacidad en los AM que tienen un mayor riesgo de sufrir caídas. Como técnica se utilizará la observación para los instrumentos test Arm Curl, Chair Stand para medir la fuerza muscular del tren superior e inferior y el test de Tinetti para el riesgo de caídas. Se utilizará el método hipotético-deductivo, con un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicada con un diseño no experimental.

Muscle strength is a key factor for the functionality and independence of older adults. With aging, there is a decrease in skeletal muscle mass, known as sarcopenia, and dynapenia, which is a loss of strength not attributed to neuromuscular diseases. These are the two main factors that limit this capacity in older adults, increasing their risk of falls.

The observation technique will be used, employing the Arm Curl and Chair Stand tests to measure upper and lower body muscle strength, as well as the Tinetti test to assess the risk of falls. The study will follow a hypothetical-deductive method, with a quantitative approach, applied research type, and a non-experimental design.
