Estilos de aprendizaje y desempeño académico en estudiantes de Ciencias Naturales del quinto grado de la Institución Educativa Luis Delfín Insuasty Rodríguez, INEM-Pasto

Abstract

El desarrollo de este proyecto se encuentra focalizado en la transformación del proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje a través de los estilos de aprendizaje de los estudiantes. De igual forma se pretende realizar una aproximación descriptiva correlacional que permita ratificar la conexión presente entre los estilos de aprendizaje y el resultado académico de los alumnos en el área de Ciencias Naturales, también, pretende determinar si realmente los estilos de aprendizaje se encuentran asociados a determinadas disciplinas académicas como en el caso del fortalecimiento de las competencias en Ciencias Naturales. La muestra se encuentra conformada por 75 estudiantes de los grados quintos de educación básica donde contestan una serie de preguntas del test (CHAEA) para conocer el estilo de aprendizaje que posee cada alumno, con la muestra seleccionada se procesan los resultados y con base en ellos se efectúa la tabulación. Este trabajo señala los efectos que presenta una investigación en la cual que se dio a conocer el estilo de aprendizaje que poseen un conjunto de alumnos pertenecientes a primaria teniendo en cuenta los esquemas sobre estilos de aprendizaje planteados por Kolb (1984), Alonso, Gallego y Honey (1994). Como resultados relevantes del proceso investigativo, es importante destacar que al conocer los estilos de aprendizaje se mejora significativamente en desempeño académico, en este caso realizó en el área de Ciencias Naturales. En este mismo sentido, conocer el estilo de aprendizaje de los estudiantes por parte del docente permite diseñar y organizar estratégicamente las actividades pedagógicas y didácticas a realizar en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Por otro lado, identificado que estilo de aprendizaje predominante tiene la mayoría de los estudiantes, se demuestra si tiene cierto grado de semejanza entre los diferentes niveles que poseen los estilos de aprendizaje propuestos para tal propósito y establecer si realmente participan en el afianzamiento de las competencias generales básicas que presentan las Ciencias Naturales. Con el objetivo de lograr dicho propósito se plantea crear una propuesta didáctica centrada en los diferentes estilos de aprendizaje que tiene el alumno para mejorar el desempeño académico de los estudiantes y por ende fortalecer así las competencias para que permitan a las generaciones nuevas enfrentar los desafíos de la educación superior asumiendo una actitud reflexiva, investigativa, crítica y competente a los avances e innovaciones de esta sociedad cambiante cada día.

The development of this project is focused on the transformation of the teaching-learning process through the learning styles of the students. In the same way, an descriptive correlational approach is sought to ratify the present connection between the learning styles and the academic results of the students in the area of Natural Sciences, also, it tries to determine if learning styles are really associated to certain disciplines as in the case of the strengthening of competences in Natural Sciences. The sample is made up of 75 students of the 5th grade of basic education where they answer a series of test questions (CHAEA) to know the learning style that each student has, with the selected sample the results are processed and based on them the tabulation is carried out. This paper points out the effects of a research in which the learning style of a group of students belonging to primary school was presented, taking into account the patterns of learning styles proposed by Kolb (1984), Alonso, Gallego and Honey (1994). As relevant results of the research process, it is important to highlight that knowing the learning styles significantly improves academic performance, in this case in the area of Natural Sciences. In this same sense, knowing the learning style of the students by the teacher allows design and strategically organize the pedagogical and didactic activities to be carried out in the teaching-learning processes. On the other hand, identified that predominant learning style has the majority of students, it is shown if it has a certain degree of similarity between the different levels that have the learning styles proposed for that purpose and establish if they really participate in the strengthening of the competences basic generalities presented by the Natural Sciences. With the aim of achieving this purpose, it is proposed to create a didactic proposal focused on the different learning styles that the student has to improve the academic performance of the students and thus strengthen the skills to allow new generations to face the challenges of Higher education assuming a reflective, investigative, critical and competent attitude to the advances and innovations of this changing society every day.
