Practica del método madre canguro y lactancia materna en el recién nacido prematuro en el área critica de un hospital público de Tacna, 2025

Abstract

Introducción: El recién nacido prematuro es aquel que llega al mundo antes de las 37 semanas de gestación, lo que implica que su crecimiento y desarrollo intrauterino es incompleto y lo hace vulnerable a diversas dificultades en su adaptación al entorno extrauterino. Se estima que anualmente nacen 15 millones de bebés prematuros, y lamentablemente, alrededor de un millón fallecen debido a complicaciones asociadas a su inmadurez. Ante ello, la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) ha emitido recomendaciones basadas en nuevas evidencias que demuestran la eficacia de intervenciones sencillas. Entre estas destacan la implementación inmediata del método madre canguro tras el nacimiento y el inicio temprano de la lactancia materna, estrategias que han demostrado reducir significativamente la mortalidad neonatal, en especial en recién nacidos prematuros y con bajo peso al nacer. Objetivo: Determinar como el método madre canguro se relaciona con la lactancia materna en el recién nacido prematuro en el área critica de un hospital público de Tacna, 2025. Metodología: La investigación es de tipo aplicada, con un método hipotético-deductivo y un enfoque cuantitativo. El diseño es no experimental, de corte transversal y nivel correlacional, la población a estudio estará formada por 20 enfermeras y 45 madres de recién nacidos prematuros de 34 a 36 semanas, que ingresan al área critica de un hospital público en Tacna 2025, constituyendo una muestra censal. Se utilizarán dos instrumentos: guías de observación dirigidas a Práctica de método madre canguro y la escala LATCH para evaluar la lactancia materna en recién nacido prematuros.

Introduction: A preterm newborn is one who is born 37 weeks before gestation, which means that intrauterine growth and development are incomplete, making the infant vulnerable to various challenges in adapting to the extrauterine environment. It is estimated that approximately 15 million premature babies are born each year, and unfortunately, around one million of them die due to complications associated with immaturity. In response, the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued recommendations based on new evidence that demonstrates the effectiveness of simple interventions. Among these, the immediate implementation of the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) method after birth and the early initiation of breastfeeding stand out as strategies that have significantly reduced neonatal mortality, especially among premature and low-birth-weight infants. Objective: To determine how the Kangaroo Mother Care method is related to breastfeeding in preterm newborns in the critical care unit of a public hospital in Tacna, in the year 2025. Methodology: This is an applied research study, using a hypothetical-deductive method and a quantitative approach. The design is non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational. The study population will consist of 20 nurses and 45 mothers of premature newborns between 34 and 36 weeks of gestation, admitted to the critical care unit of a public hospital in Tacna during 2025. A census sample will be used. Two instruments will be applied: observation guides focused on the practice of Kangaroo Mother Care and the LATCH scale to evaluate breastfeeding in premature newborns.
