Relación entre el nivel de conocimiento materno sobre alimentación complementaria y el estado nutricional de sus hijos que se atienden en el centro de salud de Lluyllucucha – Moyobamba, 2025

Abstract

El presente estudio determinó la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento materno sobre alimentación complementaria y el estado nutricional de sus hijos de 6 a 23 meses que se atienden en el Centro de Salud Lluyllucucha – Moyobamba, 2025. Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, no experimental, de corte transversal y alcance correlacional, cuya muestra estuvo compuesta por 108 madres o cuidadoras, seleccionadas mediante muestreo aleatorio simple de una población de 148, para medir el conocimiento materno utilizando un cuestionario de 12 preguntas validado por expertos. El estado nutricional (P/E, L/E, P/L) y el nivel de hemoglobina se obtuvieron mediante observación documental de las historias clínicas y el análisis inferencial se realizó con la prueba Chi-cuadrado. Sobre esta base, el dominio materno sobre alimentación complementaria fue predominantemente alto (76,9%), seguido de medio (23,1%). El estado nutricional de los lactantes fue mayoritariamente eutrófico para los indicadores Peso/Edad (95,4%) y Peso/Longitud (95,4%). Sin embargo, se encontró una prevalencia de desnutrición crónica del 17,6% y un 6,5% de anemia leve. No se encontró una asociación estadísticamente significativa entre el saber materno y ninguno de los indicadores antropométricos (P/E: p=0,856; L/E: p=0,151; P/L: p=0,677) ni con el nivel de hemoglobina (p=0,565). Por lo que, se concluye que, en esta población, coexiste un alto dominio materno con una tasa elevada de talla baja, sugiriendo que el saber, si bien es elevado, no es determinante para la condición nutricional, indicando la posible interferencia de barreras estructurales que limitan su aplicación.

This study determined the relationship between the level of maternal knowledge on complementary feeding and the nutritional status of their children aged 6 to 23 months attending the Lluyllucucha Health Center – Moyobamba, 2025. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross sectional, and correlational study was conducted, with a sample composed of 108 mothers or caregivers, selected through simple random sampling from a population of 148, to measure maternal knowledge using a 12-question questionnaire validated by experts. Nutritional status (W/A, L/A, W/L) and hemoglobin level were obtained through documentary observation of clinical records, and inferential analysis was performed using the Chi-square test. On this basis, maternal knowledge of complementary feeding was predominantly high (76.9%), followed by medium (23.1%). The nutritional status of the infants was mostly eutrophic for the Weight/Age (95.4%) and Weight/Length (95.4%) indicators. However, a prevalence of 17.6% for chronic malnutrition (stunting) and 6.5% for mild anemia was found. No statistically significant association was found between maternal knowledge and any of the anthropometric indicators (W/A: p=0.856; L/A: p=0.151; W/L: p=0.677) or with hemoglobin level (p=0.565). Therefore, it is concluded that, in this population, high maternal knowledge coexists with a high rate of stunting, suggesting that knowledge, although high, is not determinant for nutritional status, indicating the possible interference of structural barriers that limit its application.
