Uso de chancapiedra (Phyllanthus niruri) y enfermedades renales en consumidores del mercado mayorista de Santa Anita, Lima, 2025

Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación existente entre el uso de Phyllanthus niruri (Chancapiedra) y la presencia de enfermedades renales en consumidores del Mercado Mayorista de Santa Anita, Lima, 2025. Es un estudio básico, cuantitativo, transversal, no experimental y de nivel correlacional. Enmarcado en un diseño no experimental de nivel correlacional. La población muestral estuvo constituida por 155 sujetos mayores de edad, de ambos sexos, seleccionados mediante muestreo probabilístico. Se uso un cuestionario estructurado para recoger datos sobre hábitos de consumo, frecuencia, forma de preparación (infusión, decocción, tintura), partes de la planta empleadas y antecedentes renales. El análisis estadístico incluyó estadística descriptiva y la prueba Rho de Spearman (p < 0,05). Los resultados evidenciaron el 40,0% de participantes entre 18-40 años, el 78,1% con instrucción superior y el 56,2% trabajadores dependientes. La comorbilidad más frecuente fue el sobrepeso (77,5%). Respecto al uso, el 55,5% no consumía diariamente, predominando infusión (34,8% "algunas veces"), decocción y tintura. El análisis inferencial, se encontró relación positiva fuerte y significativa entre uso de Phyllanthus niruri y autorreporte de daño renal (Rho = 0,724; p = 0,000), con correlaciones moderadas en frecuencia (Rho = 0,567; p = 0,000) y preparación (Rho = 0,660; p = 0,000). En conclusión, hay relación significativa en uso de Phyllanthus niruri y presencia de enfermedades renales, evidenciando su rol en prácticas populares de salud. Se recomienda promover uso responsable con supervisión profesional, estandarización de preparados y mayor investigación científica sobre eficacia y seguridad.

This research aimed to determine the relationship between the use of Phyllanthus niruri (Chancapiedra) and the presence of kidney diseases among consumers at the Santa Anita Wholesale Market, Lima, 2025. It’s a basic, quantitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental, and correlational level study. Framed within a non-experimental correlational level design.The sample population consisted of 155 adult subjects, both male and female, selected through probabilistic sampling. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data on consumption habits, frequency, preparation methods (infusion, decoction, tincture), plant parts used, and renal history. The statistical analysis included descriptive statistics and the Spearman Rho test (p < 0.05).Results showed 40.0% of participants aged 18-40 years, 78.1% with higher education, and 56.2% dependent workers. The most frequent comorbidity was overweight (77.5%). Regarding usage, 55.5% did not consume it daily, with infusion predominating (34.8% "sometimes"), followed by decoction and tincture.The inferential analysis found a strong and significant positive association between Phyllanthus niruri consumption and self-reported kidney diseases (Rho = 0.724; p = 0.000), with moderate correlations in frequency (Rho = 0.567; p = 0.000) and preparation (Rho = 0.660; p = 0.000).In conclusion, there is a significant association between Phyllanthus niruri use and kidney disease presence, evidencing its role in popular health practices. It is recommended to promote responsible use with professional supervision, standardization of preparations, and further scientific research on efficacy and safety.
