Factores ergonómicos asociados a lumbalgia en estibadores del mercado productores Santa Anita, Lima-2025

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre los factores ergonómicos de la manipulación manual de cargas y la lumbalgia en estibadores del Mercado de Productores de Santa Anita, Lima–2025. Metodología: Estudio cuantitativo, correlacional, prospectivo y transversal; población de 200 estibadores y muestra probabilística de 132. La exposición ergonómica se evaluó con lista basada en la Ecuación de NIOSH y el método REBA, y la lumbalgia con el Cuestionario Nórdico Estandarizado y el Índice de Discapacidad de Oswestry; se aplicó análisis descriptivo, pruebas de asociación y regresión logística (OR crudo y ajustado). Resultados principales: La lumbalgia fue frecuente: 82,6% (109) alguna vez, 78,0% (103) en el último año y 62,9% (83) en la última semana; 40,9% (54) reportó dolor severo y 12,8% (17) refirió limitación funcional alguna vez. Un índice ergonómico alto se asoció fuertemente con lumbalgia (ORc=10,447; IC95%: 4,050–26,955; p<0,001) y mantuvo significancia tras ajuste (ORa=8,118; IC95%: 3,018–21,836; p<0,001). Conclusión principal: La lumbalgia en estibadores se relaciona de manera robusta con una mayor exposición ergonómica adversa durante la manipulación manual de cargas.

Objective: To determine the relationship between ergonomic factors of manual load handling and low back pain among stevedores at the Santa Anita Wholesale Market, Lima–2025. Methodology: A quantitative, correlational, prospective, cross-sectional study was conducted with a population of 200 stevedores and a probabilistic sample of 132 participants. Ergonomic exposure was assessed using a checklist based on the NIOSH Lifting Equation and the REBA method, while low back pain was evaluated with the Standardized Nordic Questionnaire and the Oswestry Disability Index. Descriptive analysis, association tests, and logistic regression (crude and adjusted odds ratios) were applied. Main results: Low back pain was frequent: 82.6% (109) reported lifetime prevalence, 78.0% (103) in the last year, and 62.9% (83) in the last week; 40.9% (54) reported severe pain and 12.8% (17) reported functional limitation at some point. A high ergonomic risk index showed a strong association with low back pain (crude OR=10.447; 95% CI: 4.050–26.955; p<0.001), which remained significant after adjustment (adjusted OR=8.118; 95% CI: 3.018 21.836; p<0.001). Main conclusion: Low back pain among stevedores is robustly associated with higher adverse ergonomic exposure during manual load handling.
