The Physical Activity and Academic Performance of the students of the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation specialty in the Private University, 2019

Abstract

The objective of the study determined the relationship between Physical Activity and Academic Performance of the students of the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation specialty of the Norbert Wiener Private University, 2019. The design of this study was nonexperimental, cross-sectional because the data collection was performed in a single moment. Correlational level because it determined the degree of relationship between these two variables, it also corresponds to the hypothetical-deductive method. The statistical data that support this research have been obtained from the World Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) proposed by the WHO, and from the report cards of university students. The study was carried out with a population of 678 and a sample of 245 students. From the statistical test it can be seen that the significance value of p = 0.000; and a Rho Spearman degree of correlation of 0.291; with which it is affirmed that there is a low positive correlation between Physical Activity and Academic Performance.

El objetivo del estudio determinó la relación existente entre la Actividad Física y el Rendimiento Académico de los estudiantes de la especialidad de Terapia Física y Rehabilitación de la Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019. El diseño de este estudio fue no experimental, de corte transversal porque la recolección de datos se realizó en un solo momento. De nivel correlacional por cuanto estableció el grado de relación existente entre estas dos variables, además corresponde al método hipotético- deductivo. Los datos estadísticos que sostienen esta investigación se han obtenido del Cuestionario Mundial de Actividad Física (GPAQ) propuesto por la OMS, y por las boletas de calificaciones de los estudiantes universitarios. El estudio se realizó con una población de 678 y la muestra de 245 alumnos. De la prueba estadística se aprecia que el valor de significancia es de p= 0,000; y un grado de correlación según Rho Spearman de 0,291; con lo cual se afirma que existe una correlación positiva baja entre la Actividad Física y el Rendimiento Académico.
