Programa de neurorrehabilitación en la capacidad funcional de la extremidad superior en pacientes con enfermedad cerebrovascular, centro privado, Ancash - 2022

Abstract

La enfermedad cerebrovascular es un déficit neurológico causado por alteraciones en el flujo sanguíneo cerebral, siendo la segunda causa de muerte y la tercera de discapacidad a nivel mundial, según la OMS. En América del Sur y Perú, la mortalidad es elevada, con mayor incidencia en hombres mayores de 35 años. En Ancash, representa una causa significativa de discapacidad. La neurorrehabilitación busca recuperar la funcionalidad e independencia del paciente, aunque en Perú solo el 30% accede a esta tras un año del evento. La recuperación depende de la gravedad del accidente, edad, condición previa y acceso a fisioterapia especializada.

Cerebrovascular disease is a neurological deficit caused by alterations in cerebral blood flow; according to the WHO, it is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability worldwide. Mortality rates are high in South America and Peru, with a higher incidence among men over the age of 35. In Ancash, it represents a significant cause of disability. Neurorehabilitation aims to restore the patient's functionality and independence, although in Peru, only 30% of patients access such care within a year of the event. Recovery depends on the severity of the stroke, age, pre-existing health status, and access to specialized physical therapy.
