| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Population aging has increased the need for rehabilitation strategies that help preserve functional capacity and promote active aging. In the field of physiotherapy, home-based exercise programs are considered a fundamental tool; however, adherence to these programs is often inconsistent. In this context, self-efficacy is recognized as a key factor influencing physical activity and adherence to therapeutic recommendations. Nevertheless, evidence regarding its relationship with adherence to home exercise programs in older adults undergoing rehabilitation remains limited, particularly in Peru. Objective: To determine the relationship between exercise self-efficacy and adherence to home exercise programs in older adults treated at the specialized physiotherapy center Rehavitale, Lima 2026. Materials and Methods: A quantitative, applied, observational, correlational, and crosssectional study was conducted. The sample consisted of 88 older adults. Data collection was carried out using a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Physical Activity Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Exercise Adherence Rating Scale. Results: A positive and significant correlation was found between exercise self-efficacy and adherence to the home exercise program (ρ = 0.375; p < 0.001; N = 88). According to Cohen’s criteria, the magnitude was moderate, indicating that older adults with higher self-efficacy tended to demonstrate better adherence. Conclusion: Exercise self-efficacy was significantly associated with adherence to home exercise programs, consolidating its role as a relevant predictor of continuity in physiotherapeutic treatment and the strengthening of functional autonomy in older adults. | en_US |
