Efectos de la terapia manual en la funcionalidad de voleibolistas con esguince de tobillo de un club deportivo de Lima, 2025

Abstract

El estudio tiene como objetivo determinar los efectos de la terapia manual en la funcionalidad de voleibolistas con esguince de tobillo en un club deportivo de Lima, 2025. Esta lesión es la más frecuentes en este deporte, afectando la estabilidad articular, el rendimiento físico y el retorno a la competencia. En el Perú, los tratamientos suelen centrarse en el reposo y vendajes funcionales, sin protocolos estandarizados de rehabilitación, lo que prolonga la recuperación y aumenta el riesgo de recaídas. La investigación se justifica teóricamente por la necesidad de evidenciar los beneficios de la terapia manual como estrategia terapéutica, metodológicamente se empleará un diseño cuasiexperimental con mediciones pre y post intervención mediante la escala AOFAS. La muestra estará conformada por 37 voleibolistas de entre 18 y 25 años. Se aplicarán técnicas de movilización y ejercicios propioceptivos basados en el concepto Mulligan, orientados a restaurar la movilidad, reducir el dolor y optimizar la alineación articular. Los datos serán analizados con estadística descriptiva e inferencial mediante el software SPSS v27, considerando un nivel de significancia de p < 0,05. Se espera demostrar mejoras significativas en la funcionalidad del tobillo, contribuyendo a una rehabilitación más eficaz y al fortalecimiento de prácticas fisioterapéuticas.

This study aims to determine the effects of manual therapy on the functionality of volleyball players with ankle sprains at a sports club in Lima, Peru, in 2025. This injury is the most frequent in this sport, affecting joint stability, physical performance, and return to competition. In Peru, treatments typically focus on rest and functional bandages, without standardized rehabilitation protocols, which prolongs recovery and increases the risk of relapse. The research is theoretically justified by the need to demonstrate the benefits of manual therapy as a therapeutic strategy. Methodologically, a quasi-experimental design will be used with pre- and post-intervention measurements using the AOFAS scale. The sample will consist of 37 volleyball players between 18 and 25 years of age. Mobilization techniques and proprioceptive exercises based on the Mulligan concept will be applied, aimed at restoring mobility, reducing pain, and optimizing joint alignment. The data will be analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with SPSS v27 software, considering a significance level of p < 0.05. It is expected to demonstrate significant improvements in ankle function, contributing to more effective rehabilitation and the strengthening of physiotherapy practices.
