Relación entre la dimensión vertical oclusal y longitud del pabellón auricular en pacientes que acuden a la clínica odontológica de la Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener 2025

Abstract

El propósito del estudio fue establecer la relación entre la Dimensión Vertical Oclusal (DVO) y longitud del pabellón auricular en personas que asistan a la clínica estomatológica de la UPNW 2025. El tipo de estudio fue no experimental, relacional. Se trabajó con los 100 pacientes en una muestra censal porque se incluirán todos los elementos de la población. La técnica elegida fue la observación donde el instrumento fue una ficha de recolección donde se registró el número de paciente, sexo, edad, DVO y medida de la oreja (pabellón) tanto derecho como izquierdo. Para realizar las mediciones se utilizó un calibrador Vernier. El instrumento conto con validez por medio de expertos y con un coeficiente de correlación intraclase de 0,997, lo que muestra una muy alta correlación entre las medidas realizadas por el investigador y el especialista. La DVO mostró una media de 64,16 mm, con una desviación estándar de 5,36 mm. Se observó que la longitud promedio del pabellón auricular derecho fue de 61,76 mm, mientras que en el lado izquierdo la media fue ligeramente menor, con 61,61 mm. Además, existe una relación lineal significativa y positiva entre la dimensión vertical oclusal (DVO) y la longitud del pabellón auricular, tanto en el lado derecho (r = 0,535; p < 0,001) como en el lado izquierdo (r = 0,555; p < 0,001). A nivel del sexo se demostró que existe diferencia significativa entre la DVO y longitud del pabellón auricular (p< 0,05). Se concluye que existe relación significativa entre la DVO y longitud del pabellón auricular en personas que asistan a la clínica estomatológica de la UPNW 2025. (p=0,000)

The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between the Occlusal Vertical Dimension (OVD) and the length of the auricle in patients attending the UPNW 2025 dental clinic. The study was non-experimental and relational. The sample consisted of 100 patients based on a census, as all population members were included. The technique chosen was observation, with the instrument used as a data collection form where the patient number, sex, age, OVD, and measurements of both the right and left auricle were recorded. A Vernier caliper was used to perform the measurements. The instrument was validated by experts and had an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.997, demonstrating a very high correlation between measurements made by the researcher and the specialist. The OVD showed a mean of 64.16 mm, with a standard deviation of 5.36 mm. The average length of the right auricle was 61.76 mm, while on the left side the average was slightly shorter at 61.61 mm. Furthermore, there was a significant, positive linear relationship between the occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) and the length of the auricle, both on the right side (r = 0.535; p < 0.001) and on the left side (r = 0.555; p < 0.001). At the sex level, it was shown that there is a significant difference between OVD and the length of the auricle (p < 0.05).
