Características de la reinfección de Covid-19 en trabajadores del hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé durante la tercera ola

Abstract

Introducción: Durante la tercera ola de la pandemia por COVID-19 se incrementaron las reinfecciones inclusive en personas vacunadas, especialmente en trabajadores de salud por su mayor exposición. Objetivo: Describir las características de los trabajadores con reinfección por COVID-19 en el Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé durante la tercera ola entre diciembre 2021 a marzo del 2022. Metodología: Estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal en trabajadores durante la tercera ola pandémica. Se utilizó un muestreo censal. La variable principal es reinfección y las secundarias edad, sexo, labor, tenencia de comorbilidades, intervalo entre infecciones, sintomatología, estado de vacunación, severidad. Se empleó una ficha de recolección de datos mediante la recolección de historias clínicas y data de vacunación del hospital. Se empleó estadística descriptiva. Resultados: La prevalencia de reinfección fue del 20.11% (n=36). El 77.78% (n=28) fueron de sexo femenino y el promedio de la edad fue de 42.75 años DS:10.09, el 80.56% (n=29) realizaba labor asistencial, y el grupo de técnicos de enfermería tuvo el 33.33% (n=12). El 44.44% (n=16) tuvo al menos una comorbilidad, el 83.33% (n=30) tuvo COVID-19 sintomático, el promedio de días entre primo-infección y reinfección fue de 299.67 días DS: 94.85, y el 91.67% (n=33) tuvo aislamiento domiciliario, y el 88.89% (n=32) tuvieron tres dosis de vacuna, el 8.33% (n=3) dos dosis, y el 2.78% (n=1) no tuvo ninguna. Conclusiones: La reinfección por COVID-19 fue del 20.11% y los grupos con mayor frecuencia fueron el sexo femenino, los que realizaban labor asistencial y los técnicos de enfermería.

Introduction: During the third wave of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic reinfections increased even among vaccinated individuals, particularly healthcare workers due to their greater exposure. This study describes this phenomenon in a national referral hospital. Objective: To describe the characteristics of workers with COVID-19 reinfection at the Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé during the third wave of COVID-19 between December 2021 and March 2022. Methodology: An observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted among workers at San Bartolomé Hospital during the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Census-based sampling was used. The primary study variable was reinfection, and secondary variables were age, sex, occupation, comorbidities, interval between infections, symptoms, vaccination status, and disease severity. A data collection form was used, using the hospital's medical records and vaccination database. Descriptive statistics were used. Results: The prevalence of COVID-19 reinfection was 20.11% (n=36). 77.78% (n=28) were female, and the average age was 42.75 years (SD:10.09). 80.56% (n=29) were performing healthcare work, and the nursing technician group accounted for 33.33% (n=12). 44.44% (n=16) had at least one comorbidity, 83.33% (n=30) had symptomatic COVID-19, the average number of days between primary and reinfection was 299.67 days (SD: 94.85), and 91.67% (n=33) were in home isolation, 88.89% (n=32) had three doses of the vaccine, 8.33% (n=3) had two doses, and 2.78% (n=1) had none. Conclusions: COVID-19 reinfection was 20.11%, and the most frequent groups were females, those performing healthcare work, and nursing technicians.
