Adherencia al tratamiento antidiabético en pacientes hospitalizados en el Centro de Atención y Aislamiento Temporal COVID-19 Villa Panamericana, Lima – 2022

Abstract

Pharmacotherapeutic adherence is a discipline that patients must follow as guided by the prescriber to promote recovery or improvement and prevent complications in the body's functionality. Objective: To evaluate adherence to antidiabetic treatment in hospitalized patients at the COVID-19 Temporary Care and Isolation Center, Villa Panamericana, Lima, 2022. Method: The study was conducted using a deductive method with a quantitative, non-experimental, and cross-sectional approach. The study involved 217 hospitalized patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. To measure pharmacotherapeutic adherence, the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) was used, validated by expert judgment, considering the following dimensions: sociodemographic data, clinical data, and therapeutic regimen. Microsoft Excel and SPSS v25 statistical software were used to analyze the results. Results: Among the 217 patients surveyed, 82% did not adhere to their pharmacological treatment. Of these, 82.1% were women, and 85.6% were over 60 years old. Additionally, 92.5% had only primary education, and 86.8% were from rural areas—all these groups were non-adherent to treatment. Regarding clinical data, 92.5% of patients were obese, 86.1% had fasting hyperglycemia, and 85.5% were receiving oral hypoglycemics and insulin. Among the treatment types, 86.7% were on dual therapy. Conclusion: In the studied population, 82% did not follow medical prescriptions, increasing the risk of complications and comorbidities associated with their condition.

Adherencia farmacoterapéutica es una disciplina que debe seguir el paciente orientado por el prescriptor para favorecer su mejoría o recuperación previniendo complicaciones de la funcionalidad del organismo. Objetivo: Evaluar la adherencia al tratamiento antidiabético en pacientes hospitalizados en el Centro de Atención y Aislamiento Temporal Covid -19 Villa Panamericana, Lima-2022. Método: Se desarrolló la investigación con método deductivo – enfoque cuantitativo – no experimental – corte transversal. Injerencia: 217 pacientes hospitalizados que cumplieron con injerencia inclusiva y exclusivas. Para medir la adherencia farmacoterapéutica se utilizó el Test de Morisky 8 Ítems (MMAS-8) validado por juicio de expertos considerando dimensiones: Datos Socio demográficos, Datos clínicos, esquema terapéutico. Para analizar resultados se utilizó Microsoft Excel, programa estadístico SPSS v25. Resultados: 217 pacientes encuestados, el 82% no cumple con el tratamiento farmacológico, de los cuales las mujeres que incumplen indicación médica es 82,1%, de ellos representan pacientes mayores de 60 años a más con 85,6%, Así mismo 92,5% presenta nivel de educación primaria, el 86,8 % procedentes de zonas rurales todos estos grupos no son adherentes al tratamiento, respecto al datos clínicos el 92,5 % presentan obesidad, el 86,1 % presenta hiperglucemia en ayunas, por último 85,5% reciben hipoglucemiante orales e insulina, y como tipo de terapia presenta un 86,7% doble terapia. Conclusión: La población estudiada el 82% no cumple indicación médica, aumentando riesgo de complicaciones y comorbilidades en curso de la patología.
