Síntomas depresivos en mujeres usuarias de anticonceptivos hormonales inyectables mensuales que acuden a una botica privada, Comas – 2025

Abstract

La investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la relación entre el uso de anticonceptivos hormonales inyectables mensuales y los síntomas depresivos en mujeres usuarias de una botica privada de Comas, 2025. El estudio fue de tipo no experimental, transversal y correlacional, se encuestaron a 206 mujeres en edad fértil que acudieron a la botica, se utilizó un cuestionario estructurado para el cumplimiento de los objetivos y el Cuestionario de Salud del Paciente (PHQ 9). Los datos se procesaron en Stata e incluyó un análisis descriptivo mediante frecuencias, análisis bivariado con la prueba Chi-cuadrado de Pearson, uno multivariado mediante regresión logística binaria, considerando significancia estadística con p<0,05. Se obtuvo como resultados que el 52,9% de mujeres utilizó anticonceptivo hormonal inyectable mensual, el 32,0% utilizó un método no hormonal y el 15,0% no utilizó ningún método. Se identificó una relación significativa entre el uso del inyectable mensual y los síntomas depresivos (p<0,001): en el grupo de no hormonal, el 84,5% presentó depresión mínima o ausente y el 15,5% leve a severa; mientras que en el grupo del inyectable mensual, el 5,5% presentó depresión mínima o ausente y el 94,5% leve a severa. No se observó relación estadísticamente significativa entre el tiempo de uso del inyectable mensual y los síntomas depresivos (p=0,603). En el modelo ajustado, el uso del anticonceptivo hormonal inyectable mensual se asoció con mayor probabilidad de síntomas depresivos (ORa 144,96; IC95%: 29,85–703,85; p<0,001). En conclusión, el uso de anticonceptivos hormonales inyectables mensuales se asoció significativamente con la presencia de síntomas depresivos.

The objective of the research was to analyze the relationship between the use of monthly injectable hormonal contraceptives and depressive symptoms in female users of a private drugstore in Comas, 2025. This was a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational study. A total of 206 women of childbearing age who visited the drugstore were surveyed, using a structured questionnaire to fulfill the objectives and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Data were processed in Stata and included descriptive analysis through frequencies, bivariate analysis using Pearson’s Chi-square test, and a multivariate analysis via binary logistic regression, considering statistical significance at p < 0,05. The results showed that 52,9% of the women used monthly injectable hormonal contraceptives, 32,0% used a non-hormonal method, and 15,0% did not use any method. A significant relationship was identified between the use of the monthly injectable and depressive symptoms (p < 0,001): in the non-hormonal group, 84,5% presented minimal or absent depression and 15,5% mild to severe; whereas in the monthly injectable group, 5,5% presented minimal or absent depression and 94,5% mild to severe. No statistically significant relationship was observed between the duration of use of the monthly injectable and depressive symptoms (p = 0,603). In the adjusted model, the use of monthly injectable hormonal contraceptives was associated with a higher probability of depressive symptoms (aOR 144,96; 95%CI: 29,85–703,85; p < 0,001). In conclusion, the use of monthly injectable hormonal contraceptives was significantly associated with the presence of depressive symptoms.
