Fuerza muscular periférica y trastorno musculoesquelético en estudiantes de fisioterapia de un instituto, Cercado de Lima, 2025

Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre la fuerza muscular periférica y el trastorno musculoesquelético en estudiantes de fisioterapia de un instituto del Cercado de Lima durante el año 2025. investigación cuantitativa, no experimental, transversal yOcorrelacional, conOunaOmuestraOde 85 estudiantes seleccionados según criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se emplearon dos instrumentos validados: el dinamómetro hidráulico Jamar para medir la fuerza muscular periférica y el Cuestionario Nórdico Estandarizado para evaluar los trastornos musculoesqueléticos. Los resultados mostraron que el 67% de los participantes eran mujeres y la mayoría tenía entre 20 y 24 años (48%), con una edad media de 23.74 años. Respecto a la fuerza muscular periférica, el 50.6% de la muestra presentó fuerza normal, el 24.7% fuerza débil y el 24.7% fuerza fuerte. La prevalencia de trastornos musculoesqueléticos fue mayor en cuello (75%), columna (71%) y hombro (60%), y menor en codo/antebrazo (25%) y mano/muñeca (22%). El análisis estadístico mediante la correlación de Spearman reveló una relación inversa y significativa entre la fuerza muscular periférica y los trastornos musculoesqueléticos (r=−0.527, p=0.046), indicando que a menor fuerza muscular, mayor incidencia de trastornos. Además, se encontraron correlaciones positivas y significativas entre la fuerza muscular periférica y las dimensiones codo/antebrazo (r=0.788, p=0.023) y mano/muñeca (r=0.811, p=0.000), mientras que no se hallaron correlaciones significativas en cuello, hombro y región dorsal/lumbar.

The present research aimed to determine the relationship between peripheral muscle strength and musculoskeletal disorders in physiotherapy students at an institute in Cercado de Lima, Peru, during 2025. This study was developed under a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational approach, with a sample of 85 students selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Two validated instruments were used: the Jamar hydraulic dynamometer to measure peripheral muscle strength and the Nordic Standardized Questionnaire to assess musculoskeletal disorders. The results showed that 67% of the participants were women, and the majority were between 20 and 24 years old (48%), with a mean age of 23.74 years. Regarding peripheral muscle strength, 50.6% of the sample presented normal strength, 24.7% weak strength, and 24.7% strong strength. The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders was higher in the neck (75%), spine (71%), and shoulders (60%), and lower in the elbow/forearm (25%) and hand/wrist (22%). Statistical analysis using Spearman’s correlation revealed an inverse and significant relationship between peripheral muscle strength and musculoskeletal disorders (r = −0.527, p = 0.046), indicating that lower peripheral muscle strength was associated with a higher incidence of musculoskeletal disorders. Additionally, significant positive correlations were found between peripheral muscle strength and the elbow/forearm (r = 0.788, p = 0.023) and hand/wrist (r = 0.811, p = 0.000) dimensions, while no significant correlations were found for the neck, shoulder, or dorsal/lumbar regions.
