Nivel de conocimiento y actitud del uso de plantas medicinales frente a Infecciones respiratorias agudas en pobladores del Asentamiento Humano Año Nuevo del distrito de Comas 2021

Abstract

The objective was to evaluate the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude toward the use of medicinal plants for acute respiratory infections (ARIs) among residents of the Año Nuevo Human Settlement in the Comas district. Methodology: This was a hypothetical-deductive study with a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional observational design. The sample consisted of 384 residents selected by probabilistic sampling. Data collection was performed using a questionnaire for knowledge and a Likert scale for attitude; both were validated by expert judgment and deemed reliable (KR-20 = 0.752 and Cronbach's α = 0.709). Spearman's Rho and Chi-squared tests were used to determine the correlation. Result: 68.2% presented a medium level of knowledge. A significant difference was found between the level of knowledge and sex, age, and occupation (p < 0.05). 91.1% had a positive attitude, which correlated significantly with sex, educational level, and marital status (p < 0.05). Furthermore, a significant relationship was found between the level of knowledge and attitude (p < 0.05). Conclusion: A relationship exists between the level of knowledge and attitude toward the use of medicinal plants for ARIs among the surveyed residents, demonstrating that a higher level of knowledge leads to an increased positive attitude.

Objetivo: Evaluar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y actitud del uso de plantas medicinales frente a infecciones respiratorias agudas en pobladores del Asentamiento Humano Año Nuevo del distrito de Comas. Metodología: Estudio hipotético deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, diseño observacional transversal realizado en una muestra de 384 pobladores seleccionados por muestreo probabilístico. La recolección de datos se realizó mediante un cuestionario para evaluar el nivel de conocimiento y una escala Likert para la actitud; ambos validados por juicios de expertos y debidamente confiables (Kr-20= 0,752 y α-Cronbach = 0,709). La correlación se determinó mediante Rho de Spearman y Chi Cuadrado. Resultado: El 68,2 % presentó un nivel de conocimiento medio; se encontró diferencia significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento con el sexo, edad y ocupación (p<0,05). El 91,1% tiene actitud positiva; y esta se correlacionó significativamente con el sexo, grado de instrucción y estado civil (p<0,05). Asimismo, hubo relación significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento y actitud (p<0,05). Conclusión: Existe relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y actitud del uso de plantas medicinales frente a infecciones respiratorias agudas en pobladores encuestados, demostrando que a mayor nivel de conocimiento aumenta la actitud positiva.
