| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between the position of impacted mandibular third molars and facial biotypes by analyzing panoramic and cephalometric radiographs of patients treated at a radiology center. The research was conducted using the hypothetical-deductive method, with a quantitative approach, basic type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional, and correlational level. The population consisted of 498 digital panoramic and cephalometric radiographs corresponding to patients treated at the SIDEMAX EIRL radiology center, from which a sample of 218 records was selected using simple random sampling. The position of the mandibular third molars was evaluated according to the Pell and Gregory classification, while the facial biotype was determined using standardized cephalometric analyses. The results showed that Class II was the most frequent position in relation to the mandibular ramus, reaching 42.1% in males and 35.1% in females. Regarding depth, position B predominated in males (43.9%), while position C was more frequent in females (33.3%). In the 15-25 age group, depth C represented 35.3%, decreasing in older age groups. No statistically significant relationship was found between the position of the mandibular third molar and facial biotype. It was concluded that facial biotype was not a determining factor in the position of impacted mandibular third molars, and therefore its clinical evaluation should be complemented by other anatomical and radiographic factors. | en_US |
