The study analyzes mothers' attitudes and knowledge regarding the “kangaroo method,” a neonatal care strategy based on skin-to-skin contact, particularly relevant for preterm or low birth weight infants. This approach supports thermal regulation, breastfeeding, and strengthens the mother–infant bond; however, its implementation may be limited by insufficient information and maternal beliefs about its effectiveness in the hospital setting. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the relationship between knowledge and behaviors related to the kangaroo mother method among mothers of preterm infants receiving intermediate neonatal care. Methods: This study follows a deductive approach with a quantitative orientation and a non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational design. The study population consists of 120 mothers who practice the kangaroo mother method. Two previously validated instruments will be applied: the Kangaroo Mother Method Knowledge Questionnaire (α = 0.719) and the Attitudes toward the Kangaroo Mother Method Questionnaire (α = 0.789). Data will be processed using SPSS version 26, and Spearman’s Rho correlation test will be used to examine the relationship between variables and test the proposed hypotheses through inferential statistics.
