Abstract

The main objective of the research was to determine the influence of the EMIC Program on the achievement of inquiry competences and academic performance in Science and Technology in secondary school students, as well as the analysis of students' perceptions on the impact generated by the application. of the program. The research was carried out, under the mixed approach, applying the hypothetical deductive method, exploratory scope, experimental design with a quasi-experimental sub-design with two groups, one control and the other experimental for the validation of the hypothesis and the inductive method with the hermeneutical phenomenological design. The instruments used for data collection were the pre and posttest content based on inquiry competencies, applied to a sample of 64 students; Likewise, the perception or evaluations of the students were collected through the Focus Group. The results were obtained by means of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, concluding that the EMIC Program contributed significantly to the achievement of inquiry competences and the improvement of academic performance in Science and Technology, in second-grade high school students belonging to the experimental group, who showed their interest in continuing to learn through the application of the program because it is a dynamic, interactive and fun strategy, resulting in a significance of 0.00 before the non-parametric test of the Mann Whitney U; rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting the alternative hypothesis.

El objetivo principal de la investigación fue determinar la influencia del Programa EMIC en el logro de las competencias indagativas y el rendimiento académico en Ciencia y Tecnología en estudiantes de secundaria, así como el análisis de las percepciones de los estudiantes sobre el impacto generado por la aplicación del programa. La investigación se realizó, bajo el enfoque mixto, aplicando el método hipotético deductivo, alcance exploratorio, diseño experimental con un sub-diseño cuasi-experimental con dos grupos, uno control y otro experimental para la validación de la hipótesis y el método inductivo con el diseño fenomenológico hermenéutico. Los instrumentos utilizados para la recolección de datos fueron la prueba de contenido pre y post prueba de en base a competencias indagativas, aplicada a una muestra de 64 estudiantes; asimismo, la percepción o valoraciones de los estudiantes se recogieron a través del Focus Group. Los resultados se obtuvieron mediante estadística descriptiva y estadística inferencial, concluyéndose que el Programa EMIC contribuyó significativamente al logro de las competencias indagativas y la mejora del rendimiento académico en Ciencia y Tecnología, en estudiantes de segundo grado de secundaria pertenecientes al grupo experimental, quienes mostraron su interés por seguir aprendiendo mediante la aplicación del programa por ser una estrategia dinámica, interactiva y divertida, teniendo como resultado una significancia del 0.00 ante la prueba no paramétrica de la U de Mann Whitney; rechazando la hipótesis nula y aceptando la hipótesis alterna.
