Cooping and adaptation capacity and their educational level of the family factor in the agony of the older adult in the “San José” Geriatric Police Hospital – Lima 2023

Abstract

Objectives: “To determine the relationship between the ability to cope and adapt with the educational level of the family member in the face of the agony of the Elderly.” Materials and methods: In this research the design is descriptive, non-experimental, crosssectional. The population was 81 family members. The survey technique was used, and “the Callista Roy Coping and Adaptation Process measurement scale” (33), as an instrument that was validated through Cronbach's Alpha of 0.874. Results: It is demonstrated that there is a relationship between the ability to cope and adapt with the educational level of the family member in the face of the agony of the Elderly, through the P-value = 0.001 of the Rho Spearman correlation coefficient test; Likewise, this test presents rho = 0.363, which shows a low-grade and statistically significant direct relationship between the variables. In this way, it is concluded that the ability to cope and adapt will be according to the educational level in which the family member is. Since the educational level will measure the difficulty or ease that the older adult will have to understand the health situation that the older adult is experiencing. in agony.

Objetivos: “Determinar la relación entre la capacidad de afrontamiento y adaptación con el nivel educativo del familiar ante la agonía del Adulto Mayor”. Materiales y métodos: En esta investigación el diseño es de alcance descriptivo no experimental transversal. La población fue de 81 familiares. Se utilizó la técnica de la encuesta, y “la escala de medición del Proceso de afrontamiento y Adaptación de Callista Roy” (33), como instrumento que fue validado a través Alfa de Cronbach de 0.874. Resultados: Se demuestra que existe relación entre la capacidad de afrontamiento y adaptación con el nivel educativo del familiar ante la agonía del Adulto Mayor, mediante el P-valor = 0.001 de la prueba de coeficiente de correlación Rho Spearman; asimismo, dicha prueba presenta rho = 0,363, lo que muestra relación directa de bajo grado y estadísticamente significativa entre las variables. De esta manera se concluye que la capacidad de afrontamiento y adaptación será de acuerdo al nivel educativo en que se encuentre el familiar, Pues el nivel educativo, medirá la dificultad o facilidad que tendrá para comprender la situación de salud que se encuentre transitando el adulto mayor en agonía.
