Attitudes of mothers of children under 1 to 5 years of age regarding poor nutrition in a health center in the Cercado de Lima district, 2019

Abstract

Objective: Determine the attitudes of mothers of children under 1 to 5 years of age regarding poor nutrition in a Health center in the Cercado district of Lima, 2019. Methodology: Descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective study in 81 mothers of children under 1 to 5 years old attended at a health center in the Cercado district of Lima - 2019. The survey was used with the Cisneros & Vallejos questionnaire previously validated within of an educational intervention evaluation. This instrument has 15 questions with three categories with scoring Results: Of the total, a favorable attitude of the mothers was determined where 55 (68.2%) agreed with the questionnaire items, 21 (25.7%) were indifferent and 5 (6.1%) disagreed with the study items. The most frequent age group was 16 to 20 years old (29.6%), then the 21 to 25 year old age group (27.2%). Forty-four (54.3%) mothers had 1 child and 55 (67.9%) mothers completed secondary school. Conclusions: Favorable attitudes of mothers of children under 1 to 5 years of age regarding poor nutrition were determined in a Health center in the Cercado district of Lima, 2019.

Objetivo: Determinar las actitudes de las madres de niños menores de 1 a 5 años sobre la mal nutrición en un centro de Salud del distrito de cercado de Lima, 2019. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal, prospectivos en 81 madres de niños menores de 1 a 5 años atendidos en un centro de salud del distrito de cercado de Lima– 2019. Se utilizó la encuesta con el cuestionario de Cisneros & Vallejos previamente validado dentro de una evaluación de intervención educativa. Este instrumento cuenta con de15 preguntas con tres categorías con puntaje Resultados: Del total se determinó una actitud favorable de las madres donde 55 (68.2%) estuvieron de acuerdo con los ítems del cuestionario, 21 (25.7%) fueron indiferentes y 5 (6.1%) estuvieron en desacuerdo con los ítems del estudio. El grupo etario más frecuente fue el de 16 a 20 años (29.6%), luego el grupo etario de 21 a 25 años (27.2%). Cuarenta y cuatro (54.3%) madres tuvieron 1 hijo y 55 (67.9%) madres tuvieron secundaria completa. Conclusiones: Se determinó actitudes favorables de las madres de niños menores de 1 a 5 años sobre la mal nutrición en un centro de Salud del distrito de cercado de Lima, 2019.
