Knowledge and practice of endotracheal suction in intensive care nursing professionals of a hospital in Lima, 2022.

Abstract

This research will be carried out as part of the intensive care nursing specialty and focuses on a very sensitive problem within this context, since it has been detected that the knowledge and practice of some nursing professionals regarding endotracheal aspiration in patients receiving assistance through mechanical ventilation is still insufficient, generating a high risk of becoming infected with pneumonia and harming their well-being and health. Objective: to determine the relationship between knowledge and practice of endotracheal aspiration in intensive care nursing professionals at a hospital in Lima, 2022. Materials and methods: it will be quantitative, the type of applied research and the descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional, non-experimental design. The study population and sample will be 80 nursing professionals who work in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Lima. The technique will be the survey and the instruments will be the questionnaire to measure the variable knowledge of endotracheal suction, organized in four dimensions: biosafety, procedure, patient and equipment, an observation guide for the practical variable of suction structured with three dimensions: before, during and after the procedure. The statistical analysis will be performed using the chi square test, in order to establish the probable correlations between the variables.

Esta investigación se realizará como parte de la especialidad enfermera de cuidados intensivos y se centra en una problemática muy álgida dentro de este contexto, pues se ha detectado que el conocimiento y la práctica de algunos profesionales enfermeros sobre la aspiración endotraqueal en pacientes que reciben asistencia mediante ventilación mecánica aún es insuficiente, generándoles un alto riesgo de infectarse con neumonía y perjudicar su bienestar y salud. Objetivo: determinar la relación entre conocimiento y práctica de aspiración endotraqueal en Enfermería de cuidados intensivos de un hospital de Lima, 2022. Materiales y métodos: será cuantitativo, el tipo de investigación aplicada y el diseño descriptivo-correlacional, transeccional, no experimental. la población y muestra de estudio será de 80 Enfermería que laboran en la unidad de cuidados intensivos de un hospital de Lima. la técnica será la encuesta y los instrumentos el cuestionario para medir la variable conocimiento de aspiración endotraqueal, organizado en cuatro dimensiones: bioseguridad, procedimental, paciente y equipo, una guía de observación para la variable práctica de aspiración estructurada con tres dimensiones: antes, durante y después del procedimiento. El análisis estadístico será realizado mediante el chi cuadrado, a fin de establecer las probables correlaciones entre las variables.
