Relationship between maternal sociocultural factors and compliance with the immunization schedule for children under one year of age. San Luis Health Center, Lima- 2022

Abstract

Objective: Determine the relationship between sociocultural factors and compliance with the immunization schedule of children under one year of age at the San Luis de Lima health center in 2022. Methodology: The research was a hypothetical deductive method, applied and observational design. ; 94 mothers of children under one year of age participated. The analysis was carried out using absolute and relative frequencies, the hypothesis test was contrasted using the chi square, Fisher's exact test and Man Whitney's U, after the creation of DAMMY variables, of those that were significant in the initial analysis. Results: 63.83% of children under one year of age comply with the immunization schedule and the social factors that were significantly related to this compliance are: age from 24 to 29 years (p=.014), average socioeconomic status and discharge (p=.000), fewer children (1 to 2) (p=.018), delay of 10 to 20 minutes to reach the health center (p=.008), higher education (p=.000), correct beliefs about vaccines (p=.000), correct knowledge of getting vaccinated according to the immunization schedule (p=.000), recognizing that vaccines prevent diseases (p=.038) and having religion evangelical (p=.003).

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre los factores socioculturales y el cumplimiento del esquema de inmunización de niños menores de un año del centro de salud San Luis de Lima en el 2022. Metodología: La investigación fue de método hipotético deductivo, de tipo aplicada y diseño observacional; participaron 94 madres de niños menores de un año. El análisis se realizó mediante frecuencias absolutas y relativas, la prueba de hipótesis se contrastó mediante el chi cuadrado, prueba exacta de Fisher y U de Man Whitney, posterior a la creación de variables DAMMY, de aquellas que en el análisis inicial resultaron significativos. Resultados: El 63.83% de los niños menores de un año cumplen con el esquema de inmunización y los factores sociales que se relacionaron de manera significativa con este cumplimiento son: edad de 24 a 29 años (p=.014), condición socioeconómica media y alta (p=.000), menor número de hijos (1 a 2) (p=.018), demora de 10 a 20 min en llegar al centro de salud (p=.008), instrucción superior (p=.000), creencias correctas sobre vacunas (p=.000), conocimiento correcto de vacunarse según esquema de inmunización (p=.000), reconocer que las vacunas previenen enfermedades (p=.038) y tener religión evangélica (p=.003).
