Gender violence and emotional dependence in mothers from the district of San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, 2022

Abstract

This research aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between gender-based violence and emotional dependency in a group of mothers from the district of San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, 2022. The study was quantitative in nature, with a non-experimental design, cross-sectional approach, and non-probabilistic sampling. The sample consisted of 112 mothers aged between 25 and 65 years, whose children were attending secondary school at a public institution. The instruments used were: The Gender-Based Violence Type and Phase Evaluation Scale (EETFVG) created by Jara and Romero (2010) and the Emotional Dependency Inventory (IDE) created and adapted by Ayquipa (2015). The study results showed a statistically significant direct correlation between the mentioned variables (Rho = .309**; p < .001), meaning that victims of gender-based violence also exhibit patterns of emotional dependency behavior.

Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar si existe relación entre la violencia de género y dependencia emocional en un grupo de madres del distrito de San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, 2022. El estudio fue de enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental, de corte transversal y a través de un muestreo no probabilístico. Se trabajó con una muestra de 112 madres de familia, entre 25 y 65 años de edad, cuyos hijos realizaban sus estudios secundarios en el colegio estatal. Los instrumentos que se emplearon fueron: La Escala de evaluación del tipo y fase de la Violencia de Género (EETFVG) creada por Jara y Romero (2010) y el Inventario de Dependencia Emocional (IDE) creado y adaptado por Ayquipa (2015). Los resultados de estudio demostraron que sí existe correlación estadística directa y significativa entre las variables en mención. ((Rho= .309**; p< .001), lo cual quiere decir que las víctimas de violencia de género, a su vez presentan patrones de comportamiento de dependencia emocional.
