Level of knowledge and attitudes towards contraceptive methods in adolescents of the public educational institution No. 5127 “Mártir José Olaya”, Ventanilla-Callao, 2014

Abstract

Background: Understanding the level of knowledge and attitudes toward contraceptive methods. Several studies have observed that adolescents possess knowledge about contraception issues, but this knowledge is incomplete or incorrect. Over the years, teenage pregnancy rates have also varied and increased. This information demonstrates a clear need to provide counseling and guidance services through Reproductive Health and Family Planning for this human group. Objectives: To determine the level of knowledge and attitudes toward contraceptive methods in adolescents from the Educational Institution Nº. 5127 Mártir José Olaya, located in AA.HH. José Olaya - Pachacutec. Methodology: The study is descriptive and cross-sectional. The study population consists of a total of 219 third, fourth, and fifth-year secondary school students from I.E. Mártir José Olaya. The instrument used is a questionnaire survey to assess attitudes and knowledge about the use of contraceptive methods, which will be frequently applied to adolescents attending the institution. The survey consists of three parts: General information: (03 items). Level of knowledge: (8 items). Level of attitudes: (8 items). The corresponding results will be processed. Results: The applied survey determined that secondary school students from I.E. have a low level of knowledge, with attitudes toward risk situations that hinder their psychosocial development. Adolescents reported that having a child at an early age primarily means taking on more responsibility and maturity in this new stage of their lives.

Objetivo: determinar las complicaciones maternas y perinatales por ruptura prematura de membranas en embarazo pretérmino en el Hospital Nacional María Auxiliadora, entre julio de 2011 y junio de 2012. Metodología: estudio observacional analítico de casos y controles. Se revisó un total de 318 historias clínicas de gestantes de embarazo pretérmino con ruptura prematura de membranas, para identificar las complicaciones maternas y perinatales. La recopilación de datos se hizo por medio de un formato estructurado. Se efectuó el procesamiento y análisis de datos, y los resultados se presentaron en tablas simples, por medio del paquete estadístico SPSS versión 18. Resultados: la edad promedio es de entre 20 y 34 años. El 15,1 % presentó antecedentes de parto pretérmino anterior. El período intergenésico fue mayor de dos años. El 54,7 % presentó infección cérvico-vaginal. El 64,2 % de pacientes fueron multíparas. El 61,3 % tuvo más de seis controles prenatales. La edad gestacional promedio fue de 34-36 semanas. Las complicaciones maternas más frecuentes fueron corioamnionitis e indicación de cesárea, con 28,3 %. La complicación perinatal más frecuente fue síndrome de distrés respiratorio (67,9 %), seguida por sepsis (58, 5 %). Conclusiones: la complicación materna más frecuente fue corioamnionitis, mientras que la complicación perinatal más frecuente fue síndrome de distrés respiratorio.
