Maternal knowledge and practice on the prevention of acute respiratory infections in the pediatric area of ​​a hospital in Huancayo, 2022

Abstract

Nursing professionals working in pediatrics assume a series of responsibilities and actions that allow for maintaining children's health. Mothers become their main allies to achieve comprehensive care for pediatric patients, especially in cases of acute respiratory infections. However, during consultations, it has been detected that knowledge and practice of preventive actions to avoid these infections are insufficient. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate this issue to take corrective actions that contribute to reducing the problem. Objective: To determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and practice regarding the prevention of acute respiratory infections in the pediatric area of a hospital in Huancayo, 2022. Materials and methods: This will be a quantitative, non-experimental cross-sectional study with a descriptive-correlational scope. Eighty mothers will participate. Surveys will be employed, and the selected instruments will be two questionnaires to measure each of the variables.

Los profesionales de enfermería que laboran en pediatría asumen una serie de responsabilidades y acciones que permiten mantener la salud de los niños. Las madres de familia se convierten en sus principales aliadas para alcanzar una atención integral en pacientes pediátricos, especialmente en el caso de infecciones respiratorias agudas. Sin embargo, durante las consultas se ha podido detectar que el conocimiento y la práctica de acciones preventivas para evitarlo son insuficientes. Por ello, es necesario indagar al respecto, a fin de tomar acciones correctivas que contribuyan a disminuir esta problemática. OBJETIVO: Determinar cuál es la relación entre conocimiento y práctica materna sobre prevención de infecciones respiratorias agudas en el área pediátrica de un hospital de Huancayo, 2022. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: será un estudio cuantitativo, transversal – no experimental y alcance descriptivo-correlacional. Participarán 80 madres de familia. Se empleará la encuesta y los instrumentos seleccionados serán dos cuestionarios que permitirán realizar la medición de cada una de las variables.
