Relation between the facial biotype and the shape of the upper central incisors in patients treated at the gianident dental clinic, Huacho 2022

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to measure the relationship between facial biotype and the shape of the upper central incisors in patients treated at the Gianident Dental Clinic in the city of Huacho. The study was applied, cross-sectional, and non-experimental in design. Eighty patients participated in the study, where their facial biotype was analyzed using the facial index, and the shape of the upper central incisors was measured using the Williams method. The results showed that 44% of the sample had a mesofacial biotype, with the male sex showing the highest percentage (31%) and the age group between 20-35 years (22%). Regarding the shape of the upper central incisors, 40% had an oval shape, with the male sex having the highest percentage (23%) and the age group between 20-35 years showing 18%. The conclusion was that there is no statistically significant relationship between facial biotype and the shape of the upper central incisors (P=0.423).

La presente investigación tuvo como propósito medir la relación entre el biotipo facial y la forma de los incisivos centrales superiores en los pacientes atendidos en la clínica dental gianident de la ciudad de huacho. el estudio fue de tipo aplicada, transversal y de diseño no experimental. participaron en el estudio ochenta pacientes a los cuales se les analizó el bf utilizando el índice facial y la forma de los incisivos centrales superiores fueron medidos mediante el método de williams. los resultados mostraron que el 44% de la muestra presentó un biotipo mesofacial, siendo el sexo masculino quien presento mayor porcentaje 31% y el grupo etario comprendidos entre los 20-35 años (22%); para la forma de los incisivos centrales superiores el 40%presento forma ovoide, siendo el sexo masculino quien presento mayor porcentaje 23% y el grupo etario comprendido entre 20-35 años con un 18%. se llegó a la conclusión que no existe una relación estadística significativa entre el biotipo facial y forma de los incisivos centrales superiores (P=0.423).
