Effectiveness of hydrocolloid in the management of pressure ulcers

Abstract

It is evident that in 60% (n=06/10) the use of Hydrocolloid is effective in the management of pressure ulcers; Since the dressings promote effective epithelialization and healing of wounds, they show an advantage over traditional healing, as they are an advanced technology treatment, achieving an adequate cost-benefit. On the other hand, 40% (n=04/10) of studies made a comparison with other dressings, where the statistical data were not sufficient to affirm the effectiveness of hydrocolloids.

Se evidencia que el 60% (n=06/10) el uso de Hidrocoloide es efectivo en el manejo de las ulceras por presión; ya que los apósitos favorecen una eficaz epitelización y cicatrización en las heridas, muestra ventaja frente a la curación tradicional, por ser un tratamiento de tecnología avanzada, alcanzando un costo-beneficio adecuado. Por otro lado, el 40% (n=04/10) de estudios realizan una comparación con otros apósitos, donde los datos estadístico no fueron suficientes para afirmar la efectividad de los hidrocoloides.
