Relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive attitudes in human papillomavirus infection in adolescent mothers of the Sangarara Health Center from January to June 2021

Abstract

Objective: To describe the relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive attitudes regarding human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in adolescent mothers at the Sangarara Health Center during the period from January to June 2021. Materials and methods: An observational, prospective, cross-sectional, and analytical study. A total of 132 adolescent mothers who attended the Sangarara Health Center from January to June 2021 were enrolled. Results: The descriptive and inferential results of both variables show a low knowledge level and poor preventive attitude in 18.9%, a medium knowledge level and regular attitude in 65.9%, and a high knowledge level with good attitude in 15.2%. However, the p-value (p=0.000) is statistically significant between the knowledge level and preventive attitude regarding HPV infection in adolescent mothers at the Sangarara Health Center. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive attitudes regarding HPV infection in adolescent mothers treated at the Sangarara Health Center.

Objetivo: Describir la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y las actitudes preventivas en la infección por virus papiloma humano en madres adolescentes del Centro de Salud Sangarara en el periodo enero – junio 2021. Material y métodos: Investigación observacional, prospectiva, transversal y analítica. Se enrolaron 132 madres adolescentes que asistieron al “Centro de Salud Sangarara” durante el periodo de enero a junio del 2021. Resultados: Nos muestra los resultados descriptivos inferenciales de ambas variables presentando un nivel de conocimiento bajo y aptitud malo del (18,9%), un nivel de conocimiento medio y aptitud regular con (65,9%) y finalmente un conocimiento alto y una aptitud buena del (15,2%), sin embargo el valor de (p=0.000) es estadísticamente significativo entre el nivel de conocimiento y la actitud preventiva en la infección por virus papiloma humano en madres adolescentes del Centro de Salud Sangarara. Conclusión: Existe relación estadísticamente significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento y las actitudes preventivas en la infección por virus papiloma humano en madres adolescentes atendidas en el Centro de Salud Sangarara.
