Level of knowledge about self-medication and practice in nursing students of the ninth and tenth cycle of Norbert Wiener University, Lima 2023

Abstract

The research focused on "Determining how the level of knowledge about selfmedication is related to the practice of nursing students in the ninth and tenth cycles of the Norbert Wiener University, in Lima, in the period of May-October 2023." The methodology was quantitative, applied based on the hypothetical-deductive, nonexperimental, correlational and transversal method. 157 nursing students from the ninth and tenth cycle of the Norbert Wiener University were used as a sample. In the collection of information, two instruments designed by Tarazona were used to measure the variables, the questionnaire on self-medication for the level of knowledge of selfmedication and the test on self-medication practices for student practice. The results were obtained with a value of 0.802 using Rho Spearman and a bilateral significance of 0.001, which indicated the approval of the researcher's hypothesis. It is concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between the level of knowledge about selfmedication and the practice of nursing students in the ninth and tenth cycles of the Norbert Wiener University in the period of May-October 2023.

La metodología fue cuantitativa, aplicada basada en el método hipotético-deductivo, no experimental, correlacional y transversal. Se empleó como muestra a 157 estudiantes de enfermería del noveno y décimo ciclo de la Universidad Norbert Wiener. En la recolección de la información se emplearon dos instrumentos diseñados por Tarazona para medir las variables, el cuestionario sobre la automedicación para Nivel de conocimiento de la automedicación y el test sobre Prácticas de automedicación para la Práctica de estudiantes. Se obtuvieron como resultados el valor de 0.802 mediante Rho Spearman y una significancia bilateral de 0,001 que indicó la aprobación de la hipótesis del investigador. Se concluye que hay una relación estadísticamente significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre automedicación y la práctica de los estudiantes de enfermería del noveno y décimo ciclo de la Universidad Norbert Wiener en el período de mayo-octubre de 2023
