Relationship between knowledge and practices applied by the nursing professional in the care of percutaneous catheter in neonates in an institute of Lima, 2023

Abstract

The neonatal period is considered the most vulnerable. Within this group are very low weight newborns, who require specialized care, as well as those neonates with some pathology, which will require prolonged treatment. For this reason, the insertion of a permanent venous access is considered to ensure their survival. One of the technologies best used in neonates is the percutaneous catheter called PICC. Highlighting the participation of the nurse in the whole process. The present research project will be carried out with the objective of determining the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices applied by the nursing professional in percutaneous catheter care in an institute in Lima-2023. The work is developed through a descriptive, quantitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional methodology, with a deductive hypothetical method. The population will be made up of a total of 50 nursing graduates from an institute in Lima, and the sample will be the same because it is a small population, that is, the total census population will be taken. As a data collection technique and instrument, a questionnaire will be used to evaluate knowledge and an observation guide to evaluate practices, both validated instruments. In the resolution of the results, we will proceed with the analysis of the data obtained from the population and designed in Excel, through the SPSS 26.0 program, and for the contra station of hypotheses we will apply Spearman's test (Rh0), which will allow us to determine the relationship between the variables.

El período neonatal es considerado como el de mayor vulnerabilidad. Encontrándose a losrecién nacidos de muy bajo peso, que requieren cuidados especializados. Por tal motivo para asegurar su supervivencia,se requiere de unade lastecnologíasmejor empleadas en los neonatos; el catéter percutáneo. Resaltando la participación de la enfermera en todo el proceso. El objetivo es determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y prácticas que aplica el profesional de enfermería en el cuidado de catéter percutáneo en un instituto de Lima-2023. La metodología será descriptiva, cuantitativa, no experimental y de corte transversal, con un método hipotético deductivo. La población y muestra estará conformada por un total de 50 licenciadas (os) en enfermería, ya que se tomará al total de la población censal. Como técnica e instrumento de recolección de datos, se empleará un cuestionario para evaluar el conocimiento y una guía de observación para evaluar las prácticas, ambos instrumentos validados. En la resolución de los resultados se procederá con el análisis de la data obtenida de población, a través del programa SPSS 26.0, y para la contrastación de hipótesis se aplicará la prueba de Spearman (Rh0), donde permitirá determinar la relación entre las variables.
