Disability due to lumbar pain and psychoemotional status in the administrative staff of a telephone company,2022

Abstract

Low back pain disability presents a high prevalence worldwide; for example, the level of impairment affects around 70% of the adult and working population. The psycho-emotional component is an important factor in musculoskeletal pain disabilities. Cognitive-emotional components, such as anxiety and depression, are currently part of the study of pain phenomena. The global prevalence of anxiety is about 10%, while in Spain, it is 7%. In North America, anxiety and depression affect 1 in 5 adults. Furthermore, the pandemic context increased these figures worldwide. This increase occurred among administrative workers who had to adapt to remote work, and as a result of the context, musculoskeletal pain problems significantly increased. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between low back pain disability and psycho-emotional state in administrative staff of a telecommunications company, 2022. An observational, correlational, and cross-sectional study was conducted with 85 individuals. The Oswestry questionnaire and the Goldberg anxiety and depression questionnaire were used as instruments. The results showed high levels of depression and anxiety.

La discapacidad por dolor lumbar presenta una elevada prevalencia a nivel mundial; por ejemplo, el nivel de afectación es cercana al 70% de la población adulta y trabajadora. El componente psicoemocional es un factor importante en las discapacidades por dolor músculo esquelético. Así, componentes cognitivos – emocionales, como la ansiedad y depresión son, actualmente parte del estudio del fenómeno del dolor. La prevalencia de ansiedad a nivel mundial bordea el 10%, en España la cifra es de 7%. En Norteamérica la ansiedad y depresión afectan a 1 de cada 5 adultos. Además; el contexto de pandemia aumentó dichas cifras a nivel mundial. Este aumento se produjo en los trabajadores administrativos pues tuvieron que adecuarse al trabajo remoto y debido al propio contexto los problemas de dolor músculo esquelético aumentaron considerablemente. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la relación entre la discapacidad por dolor lumbar y el estado psicoemocional en el personal administrativo de una empresa de telefonía, 2022. Se realizó un estudio observacional, correlacional y de corte transversal en 85 personas. Se utilizaron como instrumentos: el cuestionario de Oswestry y el cuestionario de ansiedad y depresión de Goldberg. Los resultados mostraron alto índices de depresión y ansiedad.
