Level of knowledge and practices of breast self-examination in women aged 20 to 45 attending an oncology prevention center in Lima, 2020

Abstract

Methodology: The focus of the study will be quantitative because the variables will be measured quantifiably or numerically based on questionnaires or instruments; descriptive method because they will detail the characteristics of the given variables; cross-sectional because the study will take place at an opportune time or moment; non-experimental design because there will be no manipulation of study subjects; and correlational because the aim will be to determine the relationship between the two variables. Population, sample and sampling: The subject population of this study would be the 95 women who attend an Oncology Preventory in Lima during the month of September 2020. Likewise, the sample will be made up of the same census or sample population of the study, the sampling used will be Non-Probabilistic for Convenience; That is, no formula will be used to calculate the study sample. The technique that will be used in this research will be surveys; Likewise, the instruments will be two validated questionnaires. The statistical analysis method will be done by coding the information obtained in the field work, through the Microsoft Excel 2019 Program and the SPSS Statistical Program version 26.0, to report the findings in tables and figures. Finally, to carry out the correlation between variables, the Spearman Correlation Test (Rho) will be used.

Metodología: El enfoque del estudio será cuantitativo porque las variables se medirán cuantificable o numéricamente en base a cuestionarios o instrumentos; método descriptivo porque detallaran las características de las variables dadas; de corte transversal porque el estudio se dará en un tiempo o momento oportuno; diseño no experimental porque no existirá manipulación de sujetos del estudio; y correlacional porque se buscará determinar la relación entre las dos variables. Población, muestra y muestreo: La población sujeta del presente estudio serían las 95 mujeres que asisten a un Preventorio Oncológico de Lima durante el mes de setiembre del 2020. Asimismo, la muestra estará constituida por la misma población censal o muestral del estudio, el muestreo utilizado será No Probabilístico por Conveniencia; es decir, no se utilizará ninguna fórmula para el cálculo de la muestra del estudio. La técnica que se utilizará en la presente investigación serán las encuestas; asimismo, los instrumentos serán dos cuestionarios validados. El método de análisis estadístico se hará codificando la información obtenida en el trabajo de campo, a través del Programa Microsoft Excel 2019 y el Programa Estadístico SPSS versión 26.0, para reportar los hallazgos en tablas y figuras. Finalmente, para realizar la correlación entre variables se utilizará la Prueba de Correlación de Spearman (Rho).
