Maternal knowledge and practice on prevention of acute respiratory infections in the pediatric area of hospital II – 1 Rioja, San Martin 2024

Abstract

Nursing professionals who work in pediatrics assume a series of responsibilities and actions that allow maintaining the health of children. Family mothers become their main allies to achieve comprehensive care in pediatric patients, especially in the case of acute respiratory infections. However, during the consultations it has been possible to detect that the knowledge and practice of preventive actions to avoid it are insufficient. Therefore, it is necessary to inquire about it, in order to take corrective actions that help reduce this problem. OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and maternal practice on the prevention of acute respiratory infections in the pediatric area of the Hospital II – 1 de Rioja, San Martin 2023. MATERIALS AND METHODS: it will be a quantitative, cross-sectional study - nonexperimental and descriptive in scope. -correlational. 80 mothers will participate. The survey will be used and the selected instruments will be two questionnaires that will allow the measurement of each of the variables.

Los profesionales de enfermería que laboran en pediatría asumen una serie de responsabilidades y acciones que permiten mantener la salud de los niños. Las madres de familia se convierten en sus principales aliadas para alcanzar una atención integral en pacientes pediátricos, especialmente en el caso de infecciones respiratorias agudas. Sin embargo, durante las consultas se ha podido detectar que el conocimiento y la práctica de acciones preventivas para evitarlo son insuficientes. Por ello, es necesario indagar al respecto, a fin de tomar acciones correctivas que contribuyan a disminuir esta problemática. OBJETIVO: Determinar cuál es la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y práctica materna sobre prevención de infecciones respiratorias agudas en el área pediátrica del Hospital II – 1 Rioja, San Martin 2023. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: será un estudio cuantitativo, transversal – no experimental y alcance descriptivo-correlacional. Participarán 80 madres de familia. Se empleará la encuesta y los instrumentos seleccionados serán dos cuestionarios que permitirán realizar la medición de cada una de las variables.
