Functional capacity and risk of falls in older adults at the geriatric Hospital of the Peruvian Air Force, 2020

Abstract

The present study is to verify the relationship that exists between the decrease in functional capacity and the risk of falls in older adult patients at the Geriatric Hospital of the Peruvian Air Force. The focus of this academic work will be quantitative (statistical parameters in the evaluation of data), transversal (data collection at a specific time) and correlational due to the relationship that must exist between two variables. The study population or sample is 96 patients. Data collection will be done with the application of measurement instruments such as the Barthel Index to evaluate the patient's functional capacity and the Tinetti Scale to evaluate gait and balance.

El presente estudio, es para verificar, la relación que existe entre la disminución, de la capacidad funcional y el riesgo de caídas, en los pacientes adultos mayores del Hospital Geriátrico de la Fuerza Aérea del Perú. El enfoque de este trabajo académico, será cuantitativo (parámetros estadísticos en la evaluación de los datos), transversal (recolección de datos en un momento determinado) y correlacional por la relación que debe existir entre dos variables. La población de estudio o muestra, es de 96 pacientes, la recolección de datos se hará con la aplicación de instrumentos de medición como el Índice de Barthel para evaluar la capacidad funcional del paciente y la Escala de Tinetti para evaluar la marcha y el equilibrio.
