Perceived level of family support and self-care practices of patients with type II diabetes mellitus in a health center in Chorrillos, 2021

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a disease that represents a public health problem due to its accelerated growth, the damage it causes at a systemic level and the cost generated by its treatment and prevention of complications. It is a chronic, degenerative and incurable disease but it can be controlled, so the family support provided to the patient is important, which will impact the quality of the self-care practices that every patient with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus must carry out in order to improve their condition. your health, well-being and family harmony. This research project will be carried out with the objective of "Determining how the level of perceived family support is related to the self-care practices of patients with type II diabetes mellitus, from a Health Center in Chorrillos, 2021." The study has a quantitative, descriptive, correlational approach, and an observational, cross-sectional design. The study population will be made up of 50 patients with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Two instruments will be applied, one that will evaluate the level of perceived family support provided by the family member and another instrument that will evaluate the self-care practices carried out by the patient with diabetes. The technique that will be used in data collection will be the survey, a questionnaire will be used with prior authorization and informed consent of the participants, the results will be collected and processed, coded and entered into an Excel database and will be tabulated and processed under a system, using the SPSS version 22 statistical package.

La diabetes mellitus tipo 2, es una enfermedad que representa un problema de salud pública por su acelerado crecimiento, por los daños que ocasiona a nivel sistémico y por el costo que genera su tratamiento y prevención de las complicaciones. Es una enfermedad crónica, degenerativa e incurable pero se puede controlar por lo que es importante el apoyo familiar que se le brinde al paciente el cual repercutirá en la calidad de las prácticas de autocuidado que debe realizar todo paciente con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus en mejora de su salud, bienestar y armonía familiar. El presente proyecto de investigación se realizará con el objetivo de “Determinar como el nivel de apoyo familiar percibido se relaciona con las prácticas del autocuidado del paciente con diabetes mellitus tipo II, de un Centro de Salud de Chorrillos, 2021”. El estudio tiene un enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo, correlacional, y de diseño observacio- nal, de corte transversal. La población de estudio estará conformada por 50 pacientes con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Se aplicará dos instrumentos uno que evaluará el nivel de apoyo familiar percibido que brinda el familiar y otro instrumento que evaluará las prácticas de autocuidado que realiza el paciente con diabetes, la técnica que se empleará en la recolección de datos será la encuesta, se utilizará un cuestionario dirigido previa autorización y consentimiento informado de los participantes, los resultados serán recolectados y procesados, codificados e ingresados a una base de Excel y serán tabulados y procesados bajo un sistema , empleando el paquete estadístico SPSS versión 22.
