Knowledge and attitudes of nursing staff regarding the prevention of pressure injuries in the emergency area of the San Juan de Lurigancho hospital, 2023

Abstract

The objective of this study was to "determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards the prevention of pressure injuries in nursing professionals in the emergency area of the Hospital de San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023". The methodology highlighted an applied study, hypothetical-deductive method, quantitative approach, non-experimental design; with a sample composed of 87 nursing professionals from the emergency area of the Hospital de San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023. For data collection, the Pressure Injury Prevention Knowledge Questionnaire (CPLPP-31) and the Attitude towards Pressure Injury Prevention Questionnaire (APuP), both validated and adapted to Peru by María López, Laura Parra, Inés Comino and Pedro Pancorbo, were used. The results showed that 48.28% had a medium level of knowledge about injuries, 28.74% had low knowledge and only 22.99% had a high level of knowledge. In terms of attitude, 65.52% showed a positive attitude and 34.48% showed a negative attitude. A correlation coefficient of 0.617** with a bilateral significance level of 0.000 was also found, that is, there is a moderate and significant correlation. It was concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes in nursing personnel regarding the prevention of pressure injuries (rho= 0.617; p=0.000).

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo “determinar la relación entre conocimientos y actitudes frente a la prevención de lesiones por presión en el profesional de enfermería del área de emergencia del hospital de san juan de lurigancho, 2023”. en la metodología resaltó un estudio de tipo aplicado, método hipotético-deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental; con una muestra compuesta por 87 profesionales de enfermería del área de emergencia del hospital de san juan de lurigancho, 2023. para la recolección de datos se usó el cuestionario de conocimiento sobre prevención de lesiones por presión (cplpp-31) y el cuestionario de actitud hacia la prevención de lesiones por presión (apup). los resultados se obtuvo el 48.28% presentaron un nivel medio de conocimientos sobre lesiones, 28.74% presentó bajos conocimientos y solo 22.99% tiene un alto nivel de conocimiento. mientras que en la actitud el 65.52% presentó actitud positiva y 34.48% mostró actitud negativa. también se halló un coeficiente de correlación de 0.617** con nivel de significancia bilateral de 0.000, es decir, hay correlación moderada y significativa. se llegó a la conclusión que existe una relación entre los conocimientos y las actitudes en el personal de enfermería en cuanto a la prevención de lesiones por presión.
