Knowledge about immunizations and the attitude of the mother of a child under 5 years old who attends a health center in Santa Clara - Ate, 2023

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of the study was to assess the knowledge about immunizations and its relationship with the attitude of the mother of the child under 5 years of age who attends a Health Center in Santa Clara-Ate, 2023. Materials and methods: It is a correlational investigation. The sample was made up of 240 mothers who come with their children under 5 years of age. The survey was applied as a technique and two instruments were applied to measure the central variables involved. Results: In the research hypothesis, a significant relationship was found between knowledge about immunizations and mother's attitude (p<0.05). Regarding the specific hypotheses, a significant relationship was found between knowledge about immunizations in its concept dimension and mother's attitude (p<0.05), also between knowledge about immunizations in its importance dimension and mother's attitude (p<0.05), also between knowledge about immunizations in its importance dimension and mother's attitude (p<0.05) and finally between knowledge about immunizations in its calendar dimension and mother's attitude (p<0.05). In knowledge about immunizations, the average value (58.1%) prevailed, followed by high (23.6%) and basic (18.2%). Finally, in attitudes about immunizations, the neutral value prevailed (52.7%) followed by positive (36.5%) and negative (10.8%). Conclusions: According to the general hypothesis, a significant relationship was found between the main constructs.

Objetivo: El propòsito del estudio fue valorar los conocimientos sobre inmunizaciones y su relación con la actitud de la madre del niño menor de 5 años que acude a un Centro de Salud en Santa Clara-Ate, 2023 Material y métodos: El estudio tiene un enfoque cuantitativo, es de tipo aplicada y su diseño es no experimental-correlacional. La población está conformada por 240 madres y la muestra es de 148 madres que acuden con sus niños menores de 5 años. Se aplico como técnica la encuesta y se aplicó dos instrumentos para medir las variables centrales involucradas. Resultados: En la hipótesis de investigación se encontró relación significativa entre conocimiento sobre inmunizaciones y actitud de la madre (p=0,000). En cuanto a las hipótesis específicas, se halló relación significativa entre conocimiento sobre inmunizaciones en su dimensión concepto y actitud de la madre (p=0,000), también entre conocimiento sobre inmunizaciones en su dimensión importancia y actitud de la madre (p=0,000) y finalmente entre conocimiento sobre inmunizaciones en su dimensión calendario y actitud de la madre (p=0,000). En conocimiento sobre inmunizaciones prevaleció el valor medio (58,1%) seguido del alto (23,6%) y básico (18,2%). Finalmente, en actitudes sobre inmunizaciones prevaleció el valor neutral (52,7%) seguido de positivo (36,5%) y negativo (10,8%). Conclusiones: Según la hipótesis general se encontró relación significativa entre los constructos principales (p=0,000).
