Knowledge of the nursing professional's handwashing practice and its relationship with nosocomial infections in the Intensive Care Unit of a National Hospital in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Hand washing is a clinical procedure, easy to apply and without any economic cost, where all health personnel from the different hospital areas are committed to complying with proper hand washing, in order to avoid complications that affect the health of the people and of the health personnel themselves, generating intrahospital infections. For this reason, the world health organization established the steps of hand washing, as well as the 5 moments, which must be applied by all the people who are in contact with the patients and in this way reduce the bacterial load found in our hands. Objective: To identify how the practice of hand washing in the Nursing professional affects Intrahospital Infections. Methods: The present study has a type of applied, correlational, quantitative approach research. The population consists of 50 nursing professionals from the Intensive Care Unit. The technique will be the interview and the instrument the questionnaire with prior informed consent.

El lavado de manos es un procedimiento clínico, fácil de aplicarlo y sin ningún costo económico, donde todo personal de salud de las diferentes áreas hospitalarias, tienen el compromiso de cumplir con el adecuado lavado de manos, para así evitar complicaciones que afectan la salud de las personas y del mismo personal de salud, generando infecciones intrahospitalarias. Por ello la organización mundial de la salud instauro los pasos del lavado de manos, así como los 5 momentos, el cual debe ser aplicado por todas las personas que estas en contacto con los pacientes y de esta manera reducir la carga bacteriana que se encuentran en nuestras manos. Objetivo: Identificar como la práctica del lavado de mano en el profesional de Enfermería incide en las Infecciones Intrahospitalarias. Métodos: El presente estudio de tiene un tipo de investigación aplicada, correlacional, de enfoque cuantitativo. La población consta de 50 profesionales de enfermería de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos. La técnica será la entrevista y el instrumento el cuestionario previo consentimiento informado.
