Level of knowledge and compliance with the vaccination schedule in mothers of children under 1 year of age in a health center, Lima 2023

Abstract

The World Health Organization reported that around 25 million children under 1 year of age did not receive vaccines due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Likewise, the Pan American Health Organization observed that 1 in 4 children under 1 year of age did not comply with the vaccination schedule. Objective: To determine the relationship that exists between the level of knowledge and compliance with the vaccination schedule in mothers of children under 1 year of age in a health center, Lima 2023. Methods: Study with a quantitative approach, and a cross-sectional and correlational design. The population will be satisfied by 80 mothers of children under 1 year of age who attend to a Health Center from Lima during Setember-December 2023, and this same number will be evaluated by the selection criteria (census sample) after the execution of a tested non-probabilistic for convenience. The survey technique will be withdrawn and the instrument will be the questionnaire; in this case, two questionnaires (one for the level of knowledge and the other for compliance with the vaccination schedule) prepared by Gabriel, Loardo and Ramos, which were validated by expert judgment and had coefficients KR=0.76 and KR =0.78. The data collection will involve, first, obtaining the permission of the director of the Health Center in question, then the pertinent coordination will be carried out with the head nurse, the questionnaires will be used, and the data will be taken to an Excel document and analyzed. using SPSS 26.0 software.

La Organización Mundial de la Salud reportó que alrededor de 25 millones de niños menores de 1 año no recibieron vacunas debido a la crisis por la pandemia COVID-19. Asimismo, la Organización Panamericana de la Salud indicó que 1 de cada 4 niños menores de 1 año no cumplieron con el calendario de vacunación. Objetivo: Determinar la relación que existe entre el nivel de conocimiento y el cumplimiento del calendario de vacunación en madres de niños menores de 1 año de un centro de salud, Lima 2023. Métodos: Estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, y de diseño transversal y correlacional. La población estará conformada por 80 madres de niños menores de 1 año que acuden a un Centro de Salud de Lima Metropolitana durante setiembre-diciembre del 2023, y esta misma cantidad se evaluará por los criterios de selección (muestra censal) posterior a la ejecución de un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Se utilizará la técnica de la encuesta y el instrumento será el cuestionario; en este caso, dos cuestionarios (uno para el nivel de conocimientos y el otro para el cumplimiento del calendario de vacunación) elaborados por Gabriel, Loardo y Ramos, los cuales, fueron validados mediante juicio de expertos y contaron con coeficientes KR=0.76 y KR=0.78. La recolección de datos involucrará, primero, obtener el permiso del director del Centro de Salud en mención, luego se llevará a cabo las coordinaciones pertinentes con la enfermera jefe, se aplicarán los cuestionarios, y los datos serán llevados a un documento de Excel y analizados mediante el software SPSS 26.0.
