Anxiety level of patients during dental care in times of Covid 19 at the Cerdent clinic - Miraflores headquarters San Antonio 2020

Abstract

Dental anxiety is a condition significantly affecting the population, manifesting as fear, worry, unease, etc., due to past experiences that hinder routine activities such as seeking dental care, leading to treatment abandonment, fear of dentists, and more. This issue has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of this study was to determine the level of anxiety among patients during dental care in the context of COVID-19 at the Cerdent Clinic - Miraflores, San Antonio branch, in 2020. This was a descriptive, observational, prospective, and cross-sectional study. The sample included 201 patients over 18 years old. The SDAI and MDAS questionnaires, comprising a total of 14 questions, were used to measure anxiety levels as well as control variables like age and gender. Data were processed using a descriptive analysis for each question. The results showed that 85.15% of patients were classified as extremely anxious according to the SDAI, and 42.57% had moderate anxiety according to the MDAS. In conclusion, 100% of the surveyed patients presented some level of anxiety during dental care in the context of COVID-19 at the Cerdent Clinic - Miraflores, San Antonio branch, in 2020.

La ansiedad dental es un estado el cual está afectando en gran porcentaje a la población, presentándose como un estado de miedo, temor, inquietud etc. debido a experiencias pasadas que impiden la realización normal de sus actividades como ir a la atención odontológica, provocando el abandono del tratamiento, miedo al odontólogo, etc., este problema se ha visto incrementado debido a la pandemia de covid19 que está atravesando el mundo, el objetivo de este proyecto es determinar el nivel de ansiedad de los pacientes durante la atención odontológica en tiempos de Covid 19 en la clínica Cerdent - Miraflores sede san Antonio 2020.es un estudio descriptivo, observacional, prospectivo, transversal, la muestra estuvo conformada por 201 pacientes mayores de 18 años, se utilizó el cuestionario SDAI y MDAS, que formó un total de 14 preguntas el cual midió el nivel de ansiedad asimismo la variable de control edad y sexo, para el procesamiento de datos se realizó un análisis descriptivo de cada pregunta teniendo como resultado que el 85.15% presentó nivel de extremadamente ansioso con SDAI Y 42.57% ansiedad moderada con MDAS en conclusión el 100% de los pacientes encuestados presentaron algún tipo de nivel de ansiedad durante la atención odontológica en tiempos de Covid 19 en la clínica Cerdent - Miraflores sede san Antonio 2020
